Hi. DD is getting married next year and has just set the date for thier buck and doe.
Does anyone have any good ideas for prizes/games that would bring in the extra money?
Does companies still donate items for this kind of event?
We are heading to Florida next March and I hope to keep my eye open for different prizes along my way.
My ideas- large scratch ticket board to buy tickets on.
- I make gift baskets
- Tim Hortons cards
- Easter time, I could have a huge chocolate door prize
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We made quite a bit of money on ours. We had a few things....
-rented a crown and anchor wheel from a Party place
-balloon pop--we had a prize table, some smaller and some larger ones. we put a numbered ticket in each balloon before blowing it up. Made sure some of the larger prizes were in one of the last bags of balloons. People bought darts and would pop the balloons that were affixed to a sheet of plywood. We had several bags of balloons and made several hundred dollars on this game alone.
-prizes that people bought tickets on and entered into a box. an arms length of tickets was 5 bucks and people could put them in whatever prize they wanted to win
-twoonie toss -- large bottle of alcohol in the middle of the floor, people tossed twoonies at it one at a time...closest to the bottle won

Everyone at a great time, it was a ton of fun!

Get a deck of cards with one joker and place face down on a bristol board and buy the cards ($1, $2 $5 each) by writing the nmae on the back. Once all are sold who ever pcked the joker would get half the pot and the other half to the bride and groom.

Find out what restrictions the hall you booked has on games. I just went to a Buck and Doe at the Paris arena in October, and they couldn't use some of their games. Crown and Ancor, any games including alcohol as a prize. They didn't know this until they were setting up.

Good luck! I will buy a ticket, just pm me the details closer to the date.

This is true about the restrictions except in our area it is the Township or Municipality that governs what games can and cannot be played not the venue. Certain games require a Gaming License to be purchased. Although, I have organized a few of these events and we have never had a problem with the types of games we have and we had pretty well all of the games you discussed and more!

Happy Planning and Good Luck!!

We rented a legion hall, they were very easy to deal with it. Don't know if as a private club they have different rules or if they just turn a blind eye!!

This must be an Eastern thing.. I have never heard of buck and doe! LOL

Hi again. Well our DD is also a Nicole.
A buck and doe is a party for the bride and groom before thier wedding, the wedding party usually puts it on. They sell tickets to come, games door prizes food and drink for the night. I guess to just raise extra money for the bride and groom, and to celebrate thier engagment and upcoming marrage.

Yes, this must be an Eastern thing, I've never heard of it. Don't think it would fly here anyway if guests are expected to pay to attend what is essentially an engagement party (like an admission fee?!) AND pay for a wedding gift, etc. kwim?

No offense meant, that is just my cheapskate opinion :rotfl:
