Bubbles or Not

Maybe it is me but why do kids need a million gadgets and gizmos to entertain themselves while they are on line in Disney?!!! Talk to them, point things out etc. If they are cranky then perhaps it is time to take a break? Or maybe plan so you don't have to wait for 2 hours for a ride? I don't know, I don't get it.

I also voted no as I hate the feel of the bubble solution on my skin and my dds do not need it on their skin. We were on our first trip last year and I was able to entertain my dds in the line with the longest being TSM which was very long. We saw kids climbing on the railing and invading other's spaces and it was annoying. I would think that with the bubbles the kids may go running to pop them (or at least my youngest probably would).

Isn't standing in a line at Disney World entertaining enough? Parents, you don't have to perform for your children 100% of the time! I'm sure they can make it through a line just fine without bubbles.

i previously posted that i would not use bubbles in line and i stand by that still.

however, i actually would respectfully disagree with those of you who say kids don't need to be entertained while standing in line. i think it depends on the age and mental state of the children. making a blanket statement that no kids need to be entertained while waiting in line is not only unfair, but seems to be a bit judgmental as well.

our next trip will be with 4 kids (2 families): 9 yr old boy, 4.5 yr old girl, 2.5 yr old girl and a 6.5 mo old baby. i expect the 9 yr old to be able to entertain himself or be patient standing in line but the little ones may need a little something to help them pass the time.

in my mind - they should be able to be entertained by their parents (or the other members of the party) or by the things around them - but you can't expect little kids to just stand around patiently and not get crabby, bored or upset. i'd much prefer to see a kid entertained in some other fashion that maybe some people think is ridiculous than have them throw a temper tantrum.

and yes - we avoid lines longer than 15 - 20 minutes and no, i would not allow my child to use a handheld video device in the parks at disney - but i'm not going to sit here and cast judgment on people who do things differently.

I've never done it and don't have any plans to but I wouldn't mind if someone else is blowing bubbles. I think they are pretty and always make me smile.

I have never used them actually waiting in lines, but I have taken them to use while we wait for another adult riding a ride using child swap and it was great!

If you used them in line, I don't see why there would be a problem as long as you are not being rude blowing them at other people. Since you are using them to entertain a child, probably more a toddler, get down on their level and blow them and most likely no one else will even know you are doing it.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I bolded because that is what I agree with. Packing video games, bubbles, and all sorts of stuff to entertain your child in line seems over the top. No, I don't expect my kids to stand there like statues but I will talk to them or entertain them if you want to call it that. I will not lug out the whole toychest. FTR- my kids are young.
I also don't care what you bring to entertain your child as long as it does not infringe on me and my family.
If I were being honest the most annoying thing we have had to put up with is the obnoxious cellphone use by adults! If you have to use these to meet up with your family you can at least speak in a normal or quiet voice. For whatever reason whenever anyone picks up their phones they yell like they have 2 cans with a string between them! I don't want to know if anyone in your family made a bm today or that you are mad at Aunt Tilly etc. I cannot tune you out because you are shouting in my ear! So if you must use your phones, remember not everyone wants to hear about it.

You can't exactly control where the bubbles go and if you blew them at your toddler's level one would wage to bet that all the other toddlers waiting would get a face full as well.

And the only thing people can think of to entertain their children in line is something that has great potential to bother/affect those around them?

I say no bubbles.Sorry .....But I spent time in line @ WDW with someone blowing bubbles and I had soap bubbles all over my stuff, in my hair,not to mention the kids were shrieking and running around climbing on stuff to reach them.A few bubbles ok fine....30 mins worth or longer when they are blown form behind me non-stop...not ok.I don't let my 4 yr old do it either.We played i-spy or guessing games.

I-spy is a perfect "waiting in line" game. That's what we do if we want to entertain ourselves.

"Worked up" because we don't appreciate having to leave a queue because someone is blowing bubbles in the crowded space and my daughter has a contact allergy to the bubble solution and one just popped in her face?

Feel blessed that you don't have to deal with any allergies.

I said no bubbles. I think there are other ways to entertain kids in line. We avoid long lines and if it's a line of 20 mins or less, we're usually able to entertain them by pointing to things along the line, talking to them, or people-watching.

I wouldn't be enraged, but I don't think I'd be thrilled to have someone blowing bubbles next to us. For one, I don't want bubbles popping on me or my kids and for two, this would probably cause a problem with my kids wanting bubbles to blow in line.

EVERYTHING IN MODERATION....... EVERYONE MUST BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS.... I see no problem with bubbles as long as you follow the above rules... If I were asked to have my kids stop we would.. also I would not allow my kids to blow them at anyone or for an excesseve amount of time... As for allergens.... Many people have all sorts of them we can not live in a bubble... My son is allergic to the "world" but that doesnt mean I would tell everyone dont wear perfume in Disney or better yet I am severly allergic to menthol and peperment... so based on your therory of allergies I would then have to say all you with chap stick dont use it in line dont suck on thoes pepermints... REALY NOW...
