Bubbles at DL and DCA?

The bubble guns are gone?! YESSSS!!!! So. Much. Happy. I always ended up on the train behind the kid with bubble gun so the bubbles blew right into my face the whole ride & their parents were always too exhausted to make them stop (or looked exhausted anyway, I never had the heart to complain). Multiple times that happened to us, couldn't believe it.

Bubble wands now? More bubbles than before? And my happy high is gone, just like that...

All "guns" are gone. They were removed towards the end of last year at the same time the metal detectors went in and the costume policy change happened.

More than that. People need to realize that there are folks out there who are allergic to the chemical bubble solution. The same people who can't have scented soaps and detergents in their homes also can't have some random kid's bubbles landing on their skin. Commercial bubbles have always given my kid a rash. We had to be creative and make our own when he was little. It's pretty selfish to think one kid's fun is more important than another kids health.

Completely agree. I have reactions to some soaps (including the bubbles at Disneyland - itchy!).

I also wear glasses...and those bubbles hitting the lenses cause all sorts of issues...if my glasses get splattered right before loading on an attraction, I won't be seeing the attraction as I can't see without them and the bubbles are amazingly resilient.

Don't get me wrong, I love to see happy kids. I just don't like the bubbles on me, my stuff, or my food/drink.

I agree that it is selfish to think a kid's fun is more important than anyone's health (or enjoyment as in the case of glasses)...

I guess this is a compounded problem with the crowded parks. When I was a kid, we could have used bubbles and not hit anyone before the bubbles fell to the ground (yes, I am that old...lol).

Oh ok, I thought it was always that rule? Was it a higher age limit before?

Used to be nobody over age 9. Then they loosened that up but I don't know that was ever stated.

Initially they said no adult costumes at the Halloween parties. They have now issued more guidelines that indicate that's not the case. You can wear costumes but if there are too many layers or if it's full length you will be subject to additional screening. Sort of seems like a lot of to do about nothing.

Uh oh..what's the new costume policy?

To add to what others stated: It also, at the time, was stated to affect the Halloween parties which was a definite change from past policy.

WDW already has gone back on that saying that if an adult chooses to dress up for the parties, they'll just be subject to extra screening.

DLR has not issued any official statement yet to my knowledge. But there were many reporting being told that costumes wouldn't be allowed even at the Halloween parties when they inquired after the policy changed.

RunDisney events saw a big change too. You can still wear costumes to a minor extent, but what is allowed is much more limited now.

Oh, did I miss an announcement? I thought only WDW had issued an official statement? Nothing from DLR yet.

Very possible I missed something, lol! Tech week at work kills my brain cells.

Good point. I had just seen guidelines and assumed they were the same. I think park policies tend to be pretty consistent between the coasts. Sorry if that wasn't accurate.

Considering the mess with runDisney, there's already a precedent for having different policies. To be fair, runDisney's policies have always been different, but the change to the park policy still affected the races in a significant way. Such as you now can't have anything that looks like a gun (but you can run with a lightsaber).

Even if there hasn't been an official announcement (like I said, I easily could have missed it, lol!), I think people are generally assuming WDW's policy will translate to DLR. And honestly it likely will in my opinion. I'm just anxiously awaiting official word :)

I was mostly concerned they weren't allowing any for kids either. My 5 year old is SUPER excited to wear a rapunzel outfit. It's not a technical costume, but it is very obv inspired by Tangled.
