I was just at my local Rite Aid (Maryland) and they have all their "summer" toys on sale, buy one get one free.
Among the selection was a light up bubble gun very similar to those sold in the parks, but this one was $6.99 for one, get one free (to be fair, the $14 ones in the parks come with the batteries... but a trip to dollar tree would fix that...)
They also had a "light up wand" that I think was more like a "light up sword", in red or blue... that was $4.99, get one free.
Both of those struck me as things that might be a good choice for buy-aheads for families planning a trip. Two-for-$7 is wayyy better than 1 for $14...
They also had glitter batons 2/$3, bubble wands 2/$2, yo-balls (the kind that always come back) 2/$3, as well as an assortment of other yo-yos on BOGO. They had nerf-type things and kids lacrosse and hockey sticks, frisbees, etc, as well as the more truly summer things like beach toys and water balloons.
I picked up the batons and the yo-balls to go in my closet for stocking stuffers. The giant blow-up ball that the kids can climb inside was tempting, but why on earth would I need two of them?
I'll hold out and see if it ever goes regular ol' half-price, if not, it's simply not meant to be...
