Hi all,

We're off to florida again soon, and wondering if any improvements have been made to Back to the Future - last time we went on '03 it was rough as hell and we came off bruised and bashed about!!!!!

Same as it ever was!

It is bumpy and rough - but I still enjoy it when I get over there to ride. When I worked full-time (I've dropped to bare seasonal) over at Shrek and people would ask me about whether they should go on it - I told them no if they had back or neck problems or didn't like simulators.

I still remember one time when I got placed with this little family with about an 80-something grandmother. When they got on most of them went for the back seat and she sat next to me. I suggested to her that she might want to sit in the back - it's a little less bumpy. She was short anyway so she'd not hit her head. She said she'd be fine. Well, all during the ride she clung on for dear life with the "white knuckle death grip" on the bar. Matter of fact SHE was white as a ghost when we got off. I don't think she'll ever go on it again....

I was hoping the same thing when I went last month...NOPE!

I had shoulder surgery a few years back and made the mistake of sitting in the back on the side of my bad shoulder 4 years after the surgery... OWW!!!

So I switched to the front and it was much better. It's still a bit too rough for me but if I HAVE to ride because it's usually just me and my son I ride it with my eyes closed.... :p

Don't ride it.

You'd think the suits would get the message after all the complaining, but no.

My family and I have been on this attraction many times and dont think that it is that bad but if you suffer with motion sickness then dont ride this one. Try taking a travel sickness pill before visiting the parks - this is what my mum does and it helps her. :3dglasses

I gave up on it last summer...no riding BTTF for me.

Haven't ridden it for a number of years, used to love it but now just makes me feel ill.
Seems to be a smoother ride later in the day and if you are tall sitting at the back of the vehicle is not much fun at all.

I think the BTTF at Universal Studios Hollywood is much smoother.

How bad is it? Now I'm worried. I've never been on it, but I have done Star Tours and Body Wars at WDW. Is it worse than Body Wars. I know of those two, Body Wars was much rougher. I wouldn't say they made me ill, but I do remember feeling a bit banged up afterward. Will I be okay on BTTF? :confused3

It is similar to Body Wars but even a bit rougher.

We rode that two years ago and our whole family got sick. We didn't find it any better than the one in Orlando.

I can cope with Star Tours but Body Wars is more intense, and BTTF just too jerky and uncomfortable.

It is definately rougher than Star Tours or even Body Wars. This is the only ride that has ever made me sick. I gave up on riding it a while back too. It's just not worth feeling sick afterwards.

I've ridden bucking horses that were less rough!

We rode BTTF last week, and it was very rough! I didn't remember it being so rough. It doesn't make you sick, just jerks the heck out of you! My neck hurt for 2 days! I swore I'd never get on it again, and I don't usually stay away from rough rides.

for years i always went on this ride.
and for years, i always said never again......

i have sat in all places possible on this ride and for me, i felt less jerking in the front seat by the door side.

if you are going solo you just hate to be leaning on a stranger while on this ride.

what bothers me the most is my neck. the movement of the car makes my entire body move but i try to keep my head straight and look forward. that is where i feel discomfort in my neck.

when i do ride it now, i cup my hand to the side of my neck to keep the jerking less bothersome for me.

if you sit in the back, you can strain yourself by trying to look forward and around someone's head.
sit in the front and by the door for more comfort.

as i make plans to go again this fall, i tell myself i will not go on this ride again. on my last day there, i will say 'amn it, i will do this ride !!

never fails.......... :teeth:

I hate to add to the broken record, but, yes, it is that rough. I can handle Body Wars and Star Tours with Bonine. There is no remedy, however, for banging you all over the friggin place.

Last time we went on, the only reason we rode was to take newbies we thought could handle it. I immediately headed to the front row, but everyone else in my group was heading towards the back row. I reluctantly joined them, even though I was totally ready to have the other party split up and sit with 3 of them in the front row and stick one of them with my party in the back row. Actually, I think I was doing that, when DH called me to the back row.

Unfortunately, I am not proud of any of the words I uttered while sitting in the back row, and if you are the party of a Mom and 3 kids that were in the front row while we were riding, please accept my most sincere apologies....

We were thrashed about so much that my hair kept getting caught in the back, and every time we lurched forward, a clump of it would get pulled out. That was a bonus just for me. The rest of my group had short hair and they weren't as bothered by hair pulling. Just general bruising and soreness after.
