BTRBBQ and kids?

Last year when we walked by Big Thunder Ranch BBQ it smelled sooo good and my kids wanted to go. My twin girls had just turned 10 and I really hadn't planned for the cost so we opted not to stop. Now I see that it might be closing with the opening of Star Wars Land...is that temporary? Will there be a relocation? A question for those of you with kids...is it worth it? It will just be me and my three kids age 10, 10 and 8, but will require me to pay the adult price for 3 of us. I don't mind so much for one of my twins who is 75 pounds and can sometimes out eat me. But, the other is 52 lbs and eats next to nothing (it's in the genes...she is completely healthy).

Big Thunder Ranch BBQ is closing at the end of the day on January 10, 2016. The closure is permanent, but those of us that are fans of the BBQ are hoping that it (or at least, the food) will re-appear somewhere else in the parks. However, at this point, it's best to plan for no more BBQ after January 10th.

In terms of the "value", it's one of those things you have to decide for yourself. It's All You Care to Eat, so the price is fixed by age so you have to decide if you're willing to pay the price to eat there. My group (no "adult" children, but with kids) went on our last trip because it was something the adults really wanted to do. One of the kids ate a little (one rib and some bread), the other ate half a loaf of corn bread and that was it. We knew this could happen going in and it was something we accepted as part of the price of eating there.

You can bring outside food if someone doesn't want to eat there.

We weren't going to get the kids the meal when we were there... then they begged for it so we made a reversal of that decision. I say go get it and do it while you can. I loved it.

I guess I will leave it up to the kids. Maybe carry in for my "bird eater" unless she seems really hungry!
