BRV vs CCV

I'm trying to rent points for my upcoming trip. This part of my stay I want to be at the Wilderness Lodge. My preference was Copper Creek, and the broker said there is availability, but they don't have owners with points to book it yet. Should I just go ahead and switch to Boulder Ridge to guarantee I will have a booking? Or should I continue to wait to see if any owners show up while there are available studios?

I think my main reason for wanting CCV vs BRV is the location in the main building. I like the idea of relaxing in the main lobby with the tree and decorations. I guess I'm just looking for some advice from people who have stayed in either of these. Will I be annoyed at the "hassle" of walking outdoors to get from my room to the main building.

I also really like the look of the CCV rooms-very light and airy. But I guess I'm not opposed to BRV, just don't like as much as CCV.

I will be focusing those park days on Magic Kingdom, so probably will be using the boats, which seem to be closer to CCV than BRV. But is it that much further of a walk?

Really not that much of a difference in terms of walking to transportation. We just got back from a long wilderness lodge stay where we stayed in the regular rooms, boulder ridge, and copper creek. (we rented points for Boulder ridge, then ended up adding a day on each end of the trip due to flights). The lobby of boulder ridge is beautifully decorated as well, and the walk to the main lobby isn't far... our room at the end of the hallway at Copper creek was about the same! They are all great choices. Wilderness lodge will go fast around Christmas, I would jump on what you can get.

I completely agree with this. We've stayed at WL, CCV and WLV (now BRV) and they are all great. BRV is not far from the main lobby at all and I love the sitting area in BRV as well. I would jump on whatever is available!

CCV just started selling less than a year ago, so I suspect most of the owners are wanting to stay there as opposed to renting out their points. I would take BRV because I think the likelihood of getting CCV is very limited, and as @kcpinwdw says, any availability (especially at Christmastime) at either one will book up fast.

I would book BRV. CCV just started selling, and the first few years of a new resort it is hard to find home resort points as a renter. Most rentals occur at 7 months for the new-sale resort. Based on your timing, I would not count on 7-month availability as a renter; it will be gone by 8:05AM for owners booking.

(I am assuming this is for your trip 10 months out.)

Ok, so it turns out BRV is not available anyways! I have a lead on a private renter at CCV, so fingers crossed! (And yes, I will definitely be doing my homework with references, contract, etc; already verified he is a DVC owner at CCV via the Florida Comptrollers site.)

It is for my trip in December and today is the 11 month mark!

Yeah. BRV books fast for early December. Early December is the highest DVC demand period of the entire year.

CCV, because there are more units declared (able to be booked on points) than points sold, can take longer to book up. But there are multiple contracts for guaranteed weeks sold there for early December, and I think there are only about 20 total studios declared/bookable on points as yet.

Yeah, I have a standard room booked in the meantime. Just would like to save $$ and rent DVC!

Checked. They declared 48 units to sell points against. There is debate if these units are those that can be booked on points or not. At least 2 of the studios are tied up in dedicated week contracts for the first week of December.

3 Dedicated Studios
4 Dedicated One Bedroom Villas
10 Lockoff Two Bedroom Villas
17 Dedicated Two Bedroom Villas
2 Grand Villas
12 Cabins

So, max of 13 bookable studios on points at CCV IF you believe declared = what's bookable. Subtract 2 for fixed weeks.

SUCCESS!!! Got a Studio with Walk-in Shower for my dates from a private (experienced) renter! Sooo looking forward to this trip!
