My husband and I are torn between Boulder Ridge and Animal Kingdom Villas. We are older parents, 44 and 55, and will have an almost 2 yr old at time of trip. Should we go with Boulder Ridge so we can get back to room relatively quickly or go with AKV where bus trips will be longer? We love decor of both and both have nice splash pad areas for toddlers. Ability to see animals at resort is making me want to go with AKV. We most likely would do breaks each day to try to keep our son on his schedule as much as possible. But is it smarter to go with resort closest to MK because we will be there more than other parks? Which would you choose?

BRV will be faster to and from Magic Kingdom, but about the same or longer to every other park. AKV will be longer to Magic Kingdom, but shorter to AK and about the same, if not slightly faster, to Epcot and DHS.

The myth about the MK-area resorts is how convenient they are, and if you look at actual maps at scale, the reality is that the MK area is actually remote from the rest of campus, moreso than AKV is from Epcot and DHS. And if it's raining and/or lightning, the trip back to BRV can be a bit of a pain, because the boats shut down and the speed of bringing up alternative transport is not great.
