We are driving down to disney from long island and plan on stopping in Brunswick overnight...anyone ever spend the night there? Any decent hotel for the night? Thanks!

Good question. Hubby may drive down this Oct. and would need a place to stay as well. Driving from MD. How far is Brunswick GA from WDW?
Thanks

We stayed there on the way back from Florida (not a trip to WDW) two years ago. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. For what it was, it was a nice hotel, clean and the staff were very pleasant. Plus there's a Waffle House across the street. Yummmm.

If I remember correctly it was about 3.5 hours from disney?

We stayed at a Best Western off 95 in November in Brunswick. It was a nice area. We are planning to stop and stay the night again in June. It really helps to stop and get up refreshed the next morning and have only a few hours left of the drive.

Thats what we're hoping for...a shorter drive to disney from the overnight..I think it's about a 4 hour drive from Brunswick. I would like some where decent. My AAA book has a reasonably priced Red Roof Inn with a Cracker Barrel next door. Anyone ever stay there? Thanks!

I have stayed there once or twice and it was a decent hotel.

I know this is not the dining board but one exit north of the exit the Red Roof is on there is a seafood restaurant called Spankey's that is really good. The food is fresh and delicious. I am from Maryland and I tasted Old Bay seasoning in the food and mentioned something to the waiter. It turns out the restaurant was either owned or managed by a former Marylander and he brought some recipes with him.

My mouth is watering just thinking about the meal I had there.

We stopped over in Brunswick on our way down to WDW a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the Holiday Inn (not a HI Express). I got the hotel on Hotwire for about $45 for one night. They are remodeling and we got a recently redone room - was very nice. I think it is about 4-5 hour drive to WDW depending on what kind of traffic you hit in Orlando.

I can't remember what all restaurants were at that exit - I know there is a Taco Bell and a McDonalds. Lots of other ones too!

Brunwick is where we ususally stop. There are so many motels there that we never reserve, just drive up to one and stay. It really doesn't matter about the services to us because we usually get there around1 am and leave by 8, just long enough to get a quick nap. We've never had a bad room. Nancy

We always stop in Brunswick, always stay at Hampton INN, and always eat at the Cracker Barrel which is just a short walk away. MY guess is that almost any spot you choose will be fine. As opposed to some other exits on I-95 , Brunswick seems to be clean, safe and quiet.
And depending on traffic, it is about 4 hours (or so) to WDW. WE leave Hampton Inn at 6:00AM and are usually at WDW by 10:30 at the latest.

We also have stayed in the Hampton Inn it was nice and clean also there was a Cracker Barrel right there for breakfast before you get back on the highway

Thanks Everyone! Now I just have to prepare for the LOOOOONG drive from NY to Brunswick. Thanks again!

I was so excited when I saw this thread on the main page! I grew up on Jekyll Island which is off of Brunswick. Jekyll is actually a state park and you have to go to Brunswick to school, buy groceries,... it's just a 10 mile drive to "town." I live in Savannah now, but that exit is (or was at one time) the most stopped at on I-95, but it doesn't feel like it. There is plenty there. There is a Sonny's BBQ (yum!). There is a cute italian place called Mateo's (sp?). Get your gas at that RaceTrack. DO NOT get gas in GA until you get to Brunswick! It's at least $.10 cheaper. Of course, if you can't make it that far! And gas IS cheaper in GA, so fill up! ;) LOVE  Spanky's, but there are 2 now. They call them Marsh-side and Mall-side. Mall side is probably easier to get to. It's up 95 an exit, but that's where most everything is moving in Bwk. Near the not very impressive mall. There is a Super Walmart, Home Depot (if you need your lime green Mickey heads), and lots more to eat at there. Oh, there are several hotel choices there too. Fairfield Inn is one of them. They are pretty new. Exit 39 is that one and the one with the Cracker Barrel is 36 (not sure if it's A or B) but they just go in different directions on the same road. Exit 36 has a Winn Dixie.
Oh, this is getting long. Let me know if you have any questions for the "local!" :cloud9:

Thanks for the info! I think we're gonna stay at the red roof inn...I just can't wait to get to Disney...Thanks again!
