*** Brown Rice *** any ideas for serving?

How do you serve brown rice? Or how do you make it more interesting so your kids will eat it? What do you add?

I usually serve something over it, like stir fry. I do also like it mixed with veggies (peas or corn)

I cook ground turkey, mix it with brown rice, add some jarred sauce (I like Victoria's vodka sauce with this) and sprinkle a bit of shredded mozzerella on top.

I serve it like white, a little salt and butter. My kids have been eating brown rice their entire lives though, and love it.

I sometimes cook it in chicken broth instead of water and add butter, salt and a little pepper. I think if you just introduce it a few times and don't make a big deal about it being "different", they'll probably love it.

I just serve it....boil up a pan of it and toss it in a serving dish like one might do with white rice as a base for whatever I am serving over it which might be:

chili
chicken/sausage andouille
stir-fry
curry chicken
chicken tika masala


I switched from Uncle Ben's converted white rice to plain old brown rice a few years ago when I was looking for ways to go whole grain. My kids have never noticed the difference......

some kind of protein (chicken or steak...leftovers were great), veggies, and some shredded cheese.

use lemon juice to add some flavor and serve with salt and pepper

I make it just like any other rice.

If I am making it the main part of my meal, I toss in some an "asian medley" type of veggie bag.

Yup, we just use it instead of white rice.
