I went to the doctor today and he confirmed it. Spider bite on my back. I did not know it would burn and sting like this. He gave me an antibiotic and said if it does not start oozing (I know Gross Sorry) out the infection in 2 days they will have to lance it. Hope it gets better soon!!

 OUCH! Did they give you anything for the pain?
At least you got it taken care of quickly...

That stinks but it sounds like you caught it early. That's good... they can be really dangerous so keep a good eye on it.

Hope you feel better soon (and start oozing!!)

I hope you feel better soon.:grouphug: I got bit by one on a campout in April. They are so uncomfortable.

Where were you when you got bit?

Hope it heals fast, I've heard a lot of bad things about those, not to scare you but is it looking like a rotten fruit around that area? I've heard that the area kinda gets black or something like its rotting out. HOpe you caught it early enough to where it doesn't do that.

Where do you live? Where do those spiders live?

We have a spider the size of New Jersey living on our back porch. I'm afraid to get close enough to kill it, plus it's keeping all the bugs away from the porchlight. So we have a mutual understanding that we leave each other alone. It's been there all summer.

But your little story here has me scared. What if my spider friend turns on me?

I hope you feel better - I, too, couldn't imagine that a spider bite would be so painful.

follow your doctor's instructions to the letter! these bites are nothing to take for granted-a friend was bitten by one on the foot but it was'nt caught and treated in time, he ended up losing part of his foot-and was very lucky not to lose the lower portion of his leg:scared1:

Good thing you caught it so quickly -- a few years ago, I was bit by a brown recluse on my hand, and it developed very quickly into blood poisoning and cellulitis in my left arm. The doctors were scared because the infection was so close to my heart. Three weeks of major antibiotics and steroids, and I was A-OK. ;)

Good luck with your healing process!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! watch closely, and see a specialist if you feel the need. I've treated 2 patients w/ them. 1 had a below the knee amputation, and the other was trying to keep his leg, after 2 1/2 years of treatment.

Not trying to freak you out, but they can turn very ugly. Thoughts are w/ you:hug:

OMG!!! What kind of spider is this and where do they live???

Always slamming the Garden State.:sad2:

I'm sure it's actually no larger than Delaware or even Rhode Island.:)

Good thing you went in to get it checked! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Smart move! I hope it continues to improve with the aid of antibiotics. Take care. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Oh my, I am so sorry that happened. It's a good thing you went to the Dr. I have heard horror stories about spider bites:eek:

That spider is no doubt NOT a Brown Recluse. Brown Recluses usuallly live in dark areas like closets. As far as I know they don't spread a huge web out doors like that. That spider you are talking about, we get those all the time and they are harmless to humans (I'm pretty sure.) I think the only poisonous to human spiders we have in the USA is the Brown Rec. and the Black Widow, but I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong. But pretty sure about that.

I had two customers (I work in a bank) come in with Brown Recluse bites last week! ON THE SAME DAY!

This is too weird, was there a huge breeding or something?? Both got bit at the WV Interstate Fair-- my guess is they were traveling in the carnival rides.

(btw, did anyone go look at that wikipedia link? Did anyone else nothing the f word?!)
