Brown Derby or 50's PT?

Based on food alone, would you choose Brown Derby or 50's PT?

I've got many ADR's planned out, but we will only have one meal at MGM.

I'm debating between the Derby or 50's. We will spend out of pocket, so DDP value doesn't matter.

The reason I'm waffling is because they are such different experiences, but I know we'd enjoy both.

The menu's both look tasty, but I've never been to either. I CAN tell you that at either location, the boyo will likely have a steak, so if anyone can attest to the steak quality of either location it would be appreciated...

Help? Thoughts? Bagels?

I thought the food at Brown Derby was excellent; really really good and a higher level then 50's PT (course the prices, menu, and atmosphere reflect that going in). 50's PT has good food, no doubt, but it's more like home cooking to fit the theme. I personally would not order a steak at 50's PT but I'm a steak snob.

We all stuck with fish on our trip to Brown Derby. Here is their famous chef salad, a little blurry and already mixed by the waitress:

Crab cake appetizer

Pan Fried Grouper

Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna

Grilled Atlantic Salmon

Every dish was delicious, we enjoyed them so much! At 50's PT, we enjoyed the fried chicken and the pork tenderloin.

They are both very good and different places to eat. I would recommend Brown Derby if you want a good steak. We ate there last year and the food was excellent.

Brown Derby just didn't appeal to us so I would go to Prime Time if I had a choice.

Based on food alone, I would suggest Brown Derby. We really liked this place. It's more expensive, the food is what you would find at a fancier restaurant, whereas, 50s is more casual.

Now, if was based on fun and atmosphere, I would suggest 50s.

Brown Derby is among the worst of the signature restaurants, and 50s Prime Time is among the best of the non-signature restaurants. However, the worst of the signature restaurants is still better than the best of the non-signature restaurants, especially for food quality. If money is no object, and you don't care about how fun the meal is going to be, then Brown Derby is the only choice, IMHO.

I think so too. We went a few trips back with a "steak and potatoes" couple and they both liked the steak at the Brown Derby. Plus the restaurant is pleasing to the eye--.

I've had both, and agree with everyone else. Brown Derby is in a completely different category, and although it doesn't compare with the other signature restaurants, it is miles better than the non-signature. You really do get what you pay for, foodwise, in this case. But, depending on my mood, sometimes I do prefer the fun of 50's PTC.
