brown derby grapefruit cake...

so I REALLY want to try the divine-sounding grapefruit cake from the hollywood brown derby. however, the restaurant is out of our budget and the menu doesn't really appeal to me. does the starring rolls cafe sell the grapefruit cake too by any chance?

Starring Rolls does not sell Grapefruit Cake. I have read reports of people asking for it and getting a slice.

I tried this myself and had no success. But it couldn't hurt for you to try for yourself.

You can dine at BD just for dessert.

This is what I did for my 40th bday. I wanted that to be my "cake", so we made early lunch ressies just for dessert and it was wonderful.
The server was great, never gave an issue. He even gave me another dessert for my bday. LOL So DH and I ate cake for lunch. It was great!!!

You should try it, we had so much fun!!

Our waiter at HBD told us that you could come in and order and piece of grapefruit cake to go. He said they do this only with the grapefruit cake and another menu item (sorry I can't remember which one).

Thanks for the information! I hope the other item is the Cobb salad! The menu was not impressing me for my family and 2 TS credits seemed like a waste...I am going to try going in and ordering !

My favorite items to order at the Brown Derby are the Cobb salad and the grapefruit cake. The Brown Derby is a must-do for us

I asked for and got the grapefruit cake at Starring Rolls. It was over a year ago. They had to go in the kitchen to get it, it was not in their display case. They charged same as other cake items. It was a slower time in the a.m., maybe this made the difference, or maybe you should ask more than one CM.

Just got the Cobb salad and grapefruit cake to go from Brown Derby in February. Also did this last year. The grapefruit cake is terrific, Cobb salad very good.

Thank you! I thought it was just me! I kept reading on here that you could get it at Starring Rolls, but I've tried three times and been told no every time. I may try it again when I'm there in three weeks.
