I want to book a Fantasmic reservation at Mama's or H&V but they r full, however the Brown Derby is available but I don't really want to spend the $$$$ to eat there. My question is, do I have to purchase something at the restaurant in order to get the tickets to Fantasmic? How and when do they give you these tickets to the show?

We've done the Fantasmic dinner package twice, once at Brown Derby and once at Mama Melroses and both times we got the tickets after our meal.
I would guess that you have to purchase something at the restaurant (there must be something in it for Disney) but I'm not sure as I haven't tried.

ok so if I have to purchase something does it have to be for everyone? I am going with 4 people, me, wife and 2 kids. Can I just order drinks and a Cobb salad? Are there any rules/regulations on makeing reservations just to get the fantasmic tickets?

i was wondering if you could book lunch? Would that be 2 table service credits?

The Fantasmic dining experince is priced per person. It is about $33 pp (adult) at MM and about $27 at H&V. I don't knoe the price at HBD, but if it is like the others, it is one price no matter if you order all the courses or not.

So from what you are saying then I would have to pay for the package? I do have the DDP but I did not want to use 2 credits to eat at the BD, i was going to just pay out of pocket. This is why I wanted to keep the orders small, thinking that I would still get the tickets if I reserved the Fantasmic package. Someone must know, surely this has been thought of/done before.

As the PP said, it is a set price per person regardless of what you end up eating. You can't just pay for something out of pocket, you have to pay the package price per person in order to get the F! tickets. Or use 2 dining credits per person. The package price entitles you to appetizer, entree and dessert.

OK, so I am not familiar with paying the package price. I thought that I would make the reservation and then just pay for my meal after we order, isn't that why they have prices on their menu? If it was a package price would there then be a need for prices on their menu? :confused3

The prices on the menu are for the 'regular' lunch or dinner. Info from the dining tab on this site

•The Hollywood Brown Derby (price range due to seasonal pricing)
Adults (ages 10 and up) = $50 - $58
Children (ages 3-9) = $13 - $19

The F! Package is different than a regular ADR/meal at those restaurants. The package is a fixed price and includes the meal and reserved seating at F! You have to reserve the package, simply having an ADR at those places does not include reserved seating at the show.

Yes I want to reserve the F! package not just and ADR, I guess I will just call and see what it is OOP.

I just called and it was as I thought. The CM said that you can pay OOP and order al a carte and then when you are done you will receive the F! tickets. :)So it is not a package price.

That is incorrect, unless they do it differently at BD than MM and I do not think they do. You cannot just order and pay for what you wanted and get the tickets, you have to pay the package price. You pay in advance a set price, but you can order what you want for the menu. That is what is meant by a la carte, designating that it is not a buffet.

I specifically asked about a package price, she said that it was not like that. She said that it comes with the reservation, then when you are done, the CM will give you the tickets. Maybe the CM I spoke with was wrong, each CM knows something different than the others. I will keep my reservation and continue to check on this until my trip.

homer, phone CMs frequently give out the wrong info, sad but true. I would encouragr you to call again and ask a different CM. You order from the a la carte menu, meaning your choices are not limited, but to get the reserved seating you must reserve the package. THIS post explains it very well.

Just a few months ago there was a thread of someone who was surprised when they found out they had to pay a package price:

Ok, I'll stop beating this horse. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

I ate at BD- the F! is a package pricing. They give you a specific menu and you choose items off of it. That might be the confusion for a la carte from the CM.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere wonderful but unfortunately, you must pay the price to secure the F! tickets early if that is your sole purpose. It is far superior to the other 2 on the list, IMO. OOP isn't that bad if the end result is what you want. The Cobb Salad is probably one of the best I have ever eaten and the lamb was great.

thanks, that link helped me out!

While you do order a la carte from anything in the menu, the F! package at HBD is a package price.

You will be charged a set price for the Fantasmic package, which includes your reserved ticket and your meal, which includes app, entree, and dessert. You can order a la carte, from any of the app, entree and dessert choices. The word prix fixe conjures images of a set menu. The Fantasmic dinner package allows you to order any app, any entree and any dessert from the a la carte menu, which makes it an a la carte choice. For HBD, the adult price is something around $55. You can only order an app or dessert, but you will pay the full price of the package. In the past, I've posted a pic of the Fantasmic receipt, which shows that you are rung up not as "beef" or "salad" or "lamb" but as Fantasmic dinner package.

Unfortunately, CMs on the phone lines are notorious for giving out incorrect information. Training does seem to be an issue. I've been told all kinds of crazy things, including that all rooms at the Beach Club and Polynesian have balconies since they are deluxe resorts.

If you are paying OOP how are you billed for children we have three ten year olds and a 7 year old?

We are booked, but I can't see paying $55 for each of my girls who would be happier eating off of the kids menu. We booked because the CSR )and another web site) said it was ala carte which meant the kids would be eating off of the kids menu.

Thanks for the help.
