Dh and I are in the process of planning our December ’04 trip. We are counting down until we can call on day 90 for PS. :D

We want to eat at the Brown Derby. I want to try the cobb salad and grapefruit cake. I think dinner will be the only time we will have to eat there. According to the menus at allears.net, the cobb salad is only available as appetizer for 2, for $12.99, at dinner. Is this the same size as the lunch cobb salad? Will they allow 1 person to order the appetizer at dinner for their main course?

Thanks so much.

Might I also suggest going for lunch to the BD.

They have an entree only served at lunch that offers the Cobb salad topped with a filet, served on Texas toast.

You have that, with a key lime martini, and the grapefruit cake for dessert, and you've got a fantastic lunch.

The salad for two at dinner, as I recall, is a pretty good size, obviously big enough to share.

wscato, I think we went to BD for dinner last year, and we did the cobb salad between the two of us. We ordered it as the entree, but ordered an extra appetizer each, plus a dessert. It's a pretty good portion, and delicious!

I've ordered the Cobb Salad as my main course many times.
Also have ordered it knowing I'd not be able to finish it. If you eat the leftovers within a few hours it's still quite good.
Have had many a leftover salad treats on the deck of our room at the BWV. :)

Do you think it would be possible to order the cobb salad without the bleu cheese? Does the dressing have the bleu cheese in it as well? Thanks.

I'm not sure how far in advance they put the salads together...but it wouldn't hurt to ask about the bleu cheese.

I don't believe there's any bleu cheese in the dressing though.

FYI, my husband hates...no...he detests bleu cheese in anything. He thought the Cobb Salad looked so good though and he took a forkfull.
We've been splitting a Cobb Salad from that day on. For some reason, the mixture just works for him and his taste buds.

Enjoy!

goodfaries:
The dressing is classic french. NO blue cheese in it.
But w/o the blue cheese, you don't have a Cobb salad;) ;)

I have been making the brown derby cobb salad (from the mickey cookbook) at least once a week!! It's delicious!! The dressing is to die for!!! I'm sure it would not be a problem to omit the blue cheese on salad, most of the ingredients are added individually. I thought I read that starring rolls was serving the brown derby cobb salad for lunch? Does anyone know that for sure??

:sunny:

I had read that they were serving the Cobb Salad at Starring Rolls, right next door but recently read that it was discontinued. I hope that is not true as we love the Cobb Salad.
