DS(17) has just passed his driving test first time:drive::yay::woohoo: Now to persuade him I need to take some photos:rolleyes1

Congratulations :woohoo::yay: to your DS!!!!!! I had to dangle the "you can't drive my car unless you let me take photos" option over DS's head to get him to smile for car photos when he got his license. It worked really well!:rotfl:

He still can't drive my car as it would cost £2k to insure him (or thereabouts).:scared1: I couldn't find the L-plates for him to throw in the air (they're magnetic so he couldn't tear them;)) but he did stand holding his certificate, then DS(11) made him laugh so i got a second picture where he looks happy:rolleyes1

Congrats! I had a young man park the car right beside me at Walmart over the weekend. His Mom jumped out and took pictures of his excellent parking job. She said it was his first time parking. :thumbsup2 He was embarrased, but I told her I would have done the same thing! :goodvibes

Congrats to your son! what a milestone for you both!
um, I'd be taking photos too, isn't that what we mommies do!

Congrats to you & DS :) My DD1 didn't want her picture taken either, but, I told her no photo no alone driving and she smiled very nicely for me ;)

Congrats!!!! Now the fun begins!!

I took a photo as we left the BMV....and a photo of her holding her license... there were 3 of her classmates getting their license at the same time...

I took photos of her driving to school the first day too... I even have photos of the day she passed her driving test.... drives with me.. I took photos of her.. LOL

Trust me, as each of the 5 girls got their licenses, Roger was their first passenger!!:) Said he felt comfortable with them too.
Congrats to your son! :goodvibes

What an exciting milestone for him. Congratulations!

I should also say DS(11) passed his level 2 cycling proficiency - this means he is considered safe to ride on residential roads, and after a bit more practice can take level 3 to ride on bigger roads (ones with roundabouts and buses):scared1: Not that I'm letting him out alone on his bike on the roads at present, but it means when he's out with DH, or when he goes camping with the Scouts in the summer, I can be fairly sure he's going to be OK.;)

I don't think we have any programs like that where I am.

When I was his age they used to run them in schools - practice riding round traffic cones for an hour a week then do a test to show you knew hand signals etc. I was actually going to pay for a course but when I rang up the lady told me the council were running free courses in the school holidays, so I booked one of those. You could ask your local authority what they offer for road safety training, or get together with some other mums to book a course for your kids.
