I only know of one reputable broker company that does it - anyone else have a name or two? Thx!

I don’t know of any, but a quick reminder to please post the link to the business to ensure it is not in our boards filter!

We have used The Timeshare Store on 4 or 5 transfers without any problems.

What is a point transfer?
OK, I know what point transfers are, but I didn't know brokers do them, so I thought it referred to something else. Is that a new thing for brokers to do it? What is their cut?

Broker charges 19 pp (sometimes 20 pp depending on property) and pays out 15.5 pp so their cut is 3.5 pp.

Sounds like renting, only the points are transferred into you account.
Any reported problems?

The major downside of a transfer is you can't see the points online and have to book on the phone. The advantages are massive over a standard rental, as you get full control of the reservation (change it, modify it, etc). I guess the fact you can only have 1 transfer per year is another downside, so make sure it is the one you want.

why would you need to use a broker for a points transfer there is much less risk to mitigate so why the middle man

You have a good point as to the reduced risk but it is certainly not zero risk. How would you accept payment? I know Paypal doesn't allow timeshare transactions. Not sure about Venmo or Zeele. What about the possibilities of clawbacks with these services? Does anyone who transfers points just accept a personal check and do the transfer once the check clears?

You can use PayPal for DVC Rentals and Points. PayPal just does not offer any protection services to buyers or sellers if you do.

I would say there's a greater risk in transfers than rentals. In a rental the person renting their points is always in control of the reservation whereas with a transfer once they're transferred there's no going back. They need to accept payment in advance or risk not being paid.

I recently did a couple of transfers into my account and did both privately but there was a time in each case where I had to send payment prior to the transfer being completed. In a rental I can at least see that a reservation has in fact been made in my name. It could be cancelled later on but at least I know they have the points and can see that prior to making payment.

There's also no 'paper trail' in transfers if there is a complaint. If you transfer the points and someone claims that they never received them there's not a lot you can do to prove otherwise. Officially you can't accept payment for transfers so MS isn't going to do much/anything to help.

If there were a middle person then payment could be made prior to the points being transferred and essentially held in escrow.

The only place where there is less risk is to the person getting the points once they've successfully received them.

The risk is that you send the money via the means the owner wants and you don't get the points transferred to the account

The transfer does show up in the Statement of Vacation Points Activity.
