Well, I just broke my toe last Saturday and am leaving for Disney on Wed., Oct. 15th. My first broken bone ever! The doctor said I can still go on the trip, but need to take frequent breaks. Staying at OKW....any suggestions for low key activities in case my foot can't take all the walking at the parks?

We have tickets for MNSSHP on Oct. 19th and I'm really looking forward to it since we've never been. I likely will hang by the pool that day so I can rest up for the evening.

Thanks for any advice!

Make sure you wear a pair of slides. It will make walking much easier. If you wear shoes your toe will swell up and it will be agony.

If you do this it shouldn't have a big impact on your holiday.

You might want to pack one of those small ice packs with beads in it. Ice whenever you can after walking. The best shoes I wore when I broke a toe were low hiking boots large enough to fit my toes. I had bought them to fit with 2 pairs of heavy socks. I'm mentioning this in case you need protection in the parks from something injuring your foot. Shows will be your best friend, sit at every opportunity. Plan leisurely meals etc.

For down-time activities:
Hee Haw Bob at POR.
The Jazz band at POFQ
Raglan Road for their dance/music.
Movies by the pool or on the beach at BCV.

You might want to think about renting a scooter for the night at MNSSHP.

A few years ago, I spend 2 weeks at Disney with two broken toes - one on each foot. My parent's dog broke them both about 5 days before we left for Disney. I will share with you what worked best for me!

My husband told me to tape the broken toes to the toes beside them and wear tennis shoes. I tried that and the pain was indescribable. It hurt so bad that I could barely walk.

I found that not taping them and wearing flip flops worked great for me. My toes felt much better when they had some room to spread out - the pain went away. I was very careful in crowds - if someone had stepped on my toes, I think I would have passed out! You need very good flip flops. I wore Sanuk yoga mats, but flip flops like Tevas would probably be fine.

The first couple of days at Disney, the toes were still very sore and bruised. After I passed the week mark, I felt almost normal - I did full days at the parks like a regular trip . If you aren't leaving until day 9, I bet you will be just fine.

Thanks for the words of encouragement - here's hoping to speedy recovery!

I'm taping my toes for part of the day as my dr. suggested but you're right, it isn't that comfortable.

I got a pair of cheap canvas shoes and cut the toes out if the one. Worked well for me, and gave my feet the support I needed to be on my feet all day.
