I'm a single mom who fell and broke my shoulder in two places two and a half weeks ago in my home. I immediately drove myself to the emergency room where I found out that there isn't much they can do except put your arm in a sling. I thought by now it would start feeling better but it seems worse than ever.
I have learned a new way to get dressed (no side zip pants, put belt on pants before putting pants on, etc.), started eating soft foods that don't have to be cut up, learned how to sleep sitting up and many other things. Luckily I have a very helpful little boy who doesn't mind cutting up mommy's food when just three weeks ago I was cutting up his food. He was also such a sweetheart about understanding why I canceled our trip to New Orleans for spring break.
I am just thankful that it was my left shoulder (I'm right handed) and that so far the doctor doesn't want to do surgery.
Has anyone else ever broken their shoulder and know when it should stop hurting? Any tips or tricks? I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone! It's worse than recovering from my emergency appendectomy or a c-section!
