Broken LL Bean Backpack zipper!

Help - what have you done with your child's bag when this happens? I think I can send it back for repair right? if so, how do I do so?
 
Call LL Bean and they will send you a new one. They are wonderful about replacing their products.

I had this happen to dd's new back-to-school backpack at Christmas time... the carrying handle broke! Called llbean (their last llbean backpacks lasted 3 school years - still nothing wrong with them, they just wanted something different), llbean sent a new one out to me (charged me for it) then I sent the defective one back to them using the new packaging - then they refunded me including shipping. A little hassle... but not too bad.

Now, other dd's backpack did the same thing - must have been a bad batch this year with the handles - so I'm going to have to exchange another one. Like I stated before, their last backpacks lasted 3 years - and we still use them for sleep overs and trips to the cabin... So, to have the same problem with both backpacks purchased last fall really surprises me.

I was going to say just go return it...and then realized not everyone lives 20 minutes from the flagship store. I forget what a big deal going to Bean's is. Anyhow, just call them. I am sure they will just send you a new one, if no, they will tell you how to return it.
 

Just try to remember - LL Bean products do NOT have a 'lifetime guarantee' - they have a SATISFACTION guarantee. HOw long have you had it? Have you been satisfied with it? If so, it is not fair to the company to return it at their cost.

That being said - if it's under a couple of years old, yea, it should have lasted longer (and they do know how old things are...just so you know - it AMAZES me the people that bring things in that are like 15 years old and say they bought it last year!).

All in all, YOU have to be the judge if it satisfied you. If it did, just buy another one. If not, return it for another one. :thumbsup2

Thanks all. I bought it for DD in last August and have been very pleased with it.
 
Just give them a call... they will have you send the old one and they will send you a new one. Just did this with a purse.

I agree with this. LL Bean's customer service is the best! A friend of mine went into the store wearing one of their chami shirts, it was old and tattered. The guy taking care of the mens area told him to go pick out a new one b/c the one he had on had holes in it. When my friend explained that he had it forever-that was the reason for the holes...the guy told him to go pick out a new one. Asking no further questions my friend selected a new one and the guy just did an exchange on it!
 
Take it to an alteration/repair shop. I took a brand new purse (bought it out of town at a small shop so no way to return it) that the handle broke on. The little lady in the shop was able to fix it up like new and it only cost me $5.

No worries. They will replace it, free of charge. It did not perform to your standards. They will replace it, no questions asked. I :love: LL Bean! And now I have a store close to me, too! (in PA!!!)
