I was just thinking about this and have never encountered this problem, but I was wondering (just in case):

How do you remedy the situation if one of the gifts Santa brings your child/-ren was damaged in the sleigh or if one of the elves forgot to put some of the pieces in the box?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah...Santa forgot parts of our American Girl Treehouse last year. I think I put a note on it that said 'The Elves lost part of this on the way to your house...' or something like that.

Good luck!:santa:

If the item is store bought, we just thank our lucky stars that they have more at XYZ store and we can replace it the next day.

3rd grade, I Got an easy bake oven and it was broken. The next day, I scooted to the store. They had a shipment of preemies and I ended up getting that instead. (These were cabbage patch and the preemies were a big deal.) My mom gave me a choice. Can't say my feelings were hurt any longer over the broken oven.

You get on the phone to Santa right away. (the weather number is good for this or even a dial tone) Explain what happened and get the go ahead from them to return it to a store that can fix it or exchange it. It works very well if you talk right in front of them nice and loud so they can hear you talk to the elf in charge of these things. ;)

My SIL gave DD the book "The Missing Piece"; my MIL had told me what a great price she got on it at BJs. Well, it was a misprint (and hence ended up at BJs), because he never does find the missing piece...he just kept rolling and rolling and rolling. :rotfl:

If we had bought it, I'd just say Santa doesn't do returns...we'll just take it back to a store and get another one. But since SIL bought it I (I never told her about it), we just kept it. DD never did get the point of "The Missing Piece."

We always told our sons that we had to pay Santa for the toys (how else can he keep working) and he gave us a recipt for if we got another one from an aunt or uncle or if it is broken. They bought it. It also explained why some people don't get as many toys as others and why they could not get everything they wanted.

My sons never made lists for us. They were happy with what they got.

We've done something similar. We call Santa (Grandpa deepens his voice-thanks Dad :thumbsup2) and Santa explains that sometimes in the confusion a part gets lost or broken and that he will give Mom/Dad the special code they need to replace it.

When DD11 was 2, her DF left at Thanksgiving and it was our first Christmas on our own. I forgot batteries. Luckily she was 2 and I could wing some of it until the next day when I could go get batteries. Embarassing!
