I can't believe it! DS broke his arm last night while riding his skateboard. My first response when the doctor came in with the x-ray results was; "but we leave for Disney in less than a month!" DS broke both of the major bones in his forearm and his cast goes from his hand all the way to his arm pit. The doctor hopes to put him in a smaller cast in a week or two. Anyway he will be in some sort of cast for at least 6 weeks so we are wondering if this will interfere with him riding any of the rides at WDW. Obviously he can't get it wet so we will wrap it in a plastic bag for Kali and Splash. Other than that will the cast prohibit him from riding any other rides?

It is hard to say directly. Disney will not prevent riding something unless it would be dangerous to him or to other Guests. For some of the attractions, such as Everest or RnRC he might need to have the arm in a ticght sling to keep it from being tossed around.

On a side note, when the cast is put on have the person who is going to remove it draw a line where it will be cut off. Carry several "Sharpies" with you and have the Characters sign the cast, askingthm to not cross the line with their signature. When the cast is cut off he will have an unusual souvenier of his trip.

I do know what the rules are at Disney, but last fall my son broke his elbow, so he was in a cast like your son currently is in. When we went to Cedar Point, we were told that because he could not bend his elbow, he was not able to ride some of the rides. We are not even just talking about the bigger ones, he was not allowed to ride one of the kiddie coasters. The reason for this is that the manufactures figured that type of cast prevented people from holding on to the restraints properly.

So if he is still in a cast that goes above the elbow, you might want to contact Disney and see what restrictions he would face, especially if he loves the faster rides, like Everest or RnRC.
