Hello all,

My wife and I recently got married and were going to Disney World for our honeymoon. Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago I broke my foot. As of right now I have a cast on and can't really walk around with it. As of right now we were probably going to get a wheelchair for me (crutches for 9 miles? hop on one leg for 9 miles? yeah right ). So I was just wondering if anyone has any advice, or is familiar with our situation.
Any suggestions/advice would be fantastic.
Super excited about going, but just want to make sure we know what to do/expect ahead of time.

Consider renting an ECV instead of a wheelchair. It will give you more independence and it will save your new wife from having to push you.

Totally agree. The marriage you save may be your own.

WDW isn't as flat as you'd think, and pushing a wheelchair in the heat and humidity just isn't a fun thing to do on a honeymoon.

I broke my foot on the first day of my last trip! Rented and ECV from Walker Mobility and still had a great time. There are a couple of rides (I'm thinking especially of PotC) where you have to transfer to a manual wheelchair (or hobble on crutches) to get in the queue, but the ECV took me most everywhere I needed to go. And seconding the PP who said that the parks are not as flat as you'd think! I started out in a manual, but it was just too much for me or my friend to push all day and I had to call the company and have them switch it.

If you're taking pain medication, make sure to stay on top of it and not wait until you're suffering to take it.

Also, if you rent from offsite you can usually get a crutch holder attached to the ECV for a one-time fee of about $10. That way you have a place to store them while driving.

Thanks for all the valuable input, I really do appreciate it!
Being my first time ever to Disney (she's been there before, albeit a while ago), I want to ensure that my wife and I enjoy every second of it. Having her push me around Disney for a whole week, doesn't sound enjoyable (although I think my displeasure would be nowhere near hers, I mean, I would just be sitting there ).
So most likely we'll be renting a scooter.

Piper already posted a link to the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
I just want to point you toward a few other posts in that thread that might be especially helpful to you.
Posts 18-21 on page 2 of that thread has information about hitch rides require a transfer and a bit about the difficulty of the transfer.

One of my hints would be to try to not do too many difficult transfers in a row.
Alternate between more difficult transfers and those where you can stay on the ECV. You will get tired and it will be helpful for you to have a break between those more difficult transfers.

broke my foot 5 years ago week before our trip and had on a boot cast and thought no problem can walk fine--wrong--- never got from room to the bus and knew had huge problem so my sister went to the desk and they gave her a wheel chair and after one day of her and her husband pushing me over brick streets they were down in their backs so called walker mobility and they delivered a scoote ECV and had it 24/7 to buses and into parks for the whole trip. mad life a lot easier on every one. just have to load iton the buses and after couple of times is easy.
