The $400 per night price tag of HRH was getting to me, but this will be my first Universal trip in 12 years, first time ever at IOA. We'll only be there for 2 days, so I decided to bite the bullet and book HRH. Being that it's the middle of March and on a weekend, my guess is we'll find the front of line access to be well worth the money for an enjoyable weekend.

That price is getting to me too.. Good lord.. are you eligible for a AAA or Annual Pass discount? I'm not sure where you're from but I've seen specials around this time for discounts on the cheapest annual pass, the Power Pass, for as low as $99. Maybe that'll bring your rate down. Also, keep checking the website or call Loews directly. The rates sometimes differ. :)

:woohoo: watch out, you may be hooked;)

def. keep checking your rate & sign up for loews card (free); check out the stickie for all the benefits u can earn.

I haven't seen any discounts for the weekend we're going. I'm not sure if Universal is trying to compete with Disney for weekly stays, but no way would I ever spend more than 1 night there for that price. If not for Unlimited Express, I wouldn't have considered it. Funny thing is, I did call, and the woman on the phone seemed very well versed in people being shocked at their prices.

looking@ your counter appears as though you're talking the 3rd or 4th weekend of July...$400 still seems very high for a standard room:confused3 what type did you book?

RPR is usually the least expensive of the three onsites; it's great:thumbsup2 fantastic pool. we had end of June 3 nights for approx $200+/night via AAA. AP rates for dates i checked were in the same ballpark as AAA if not more.

that said, i did cancel our onsite weekend stay for Oct. & booked lowest price cabin on DCL (for overall less money:confused3 ). We'll still visit the park during our stay @ WL; especially since i'm out of MYW tix & have an AP @ U. We've never been offsite guests before, i've got a feeling it will make us truly appreciate the FOTL perc.:rolleyes1

Actually going March 14-16...Just a quick weekend trip. Kind of stinks. I'd really like to stay on-site for both nights, but I don't wanna pay $800 for 2 nights.

If you're willing to look into the PowerPass at a discounted price (I've seen it at Publix for $99 but I think it depends where you're from), you may be able to get both nights at the Hard Rock for Total Cost Including Taxes: 537.75 (per room).

Royal Pacific for a bit cheaper.

I just want to make sure that the PowerPass would be eligible for the hotel discounts? Anyone know?

Power pass is not eligible for hotel discounts.

That's 2 weekends before Easter, and yep...Spring Break, Easter approaching AND weekend.... no discounts :(

Ironically, if you'd stay more nights, you might be eligible for SuperSaver rate (3+ nites)....but, I know you don't want to do that. Guess moving your dates by a week or two won't help either? Your FOTL access will definately be worth it...but, that's kinda high....I've never even paid $300/nite let alone $400

Hope you have a great time either way....

Use your AAA for food and shopping discounts in the parks/CW to help save some $$.

We decided to splure and stay both nights at HRH. What the hay. You only live once.

I just hope this front of the line thing really pays off. So we really get to use it unlimited? If we really like The Mummy, we can get off and get right back in the express line?

You'll have to walk around from the gift shop to the main entrance but you can get back into the Express line.

nice on spiderman & MIB too:goodvibes

wow, easter/spring break is really expensive

it thought the weekends in Oct were brutal, although as i figure - a big holiday season too with HHN?

We're going shortly after you and our room at RPR is $324, so that's probably the cheapest you'd find if you really wanted to save a little bit. I also asked about AAA and AP and no discounts were available at all. I booked last August right when the dates were available, and prices haven't gone down at all. I think we're just stuck with record high prices around Easter!
