It certainly makes sense...for both her and her husband to have had pneumonia and anemia at the TOD is a really big coincidence. I wonder if they will have to exhume them or if they find mold in the home, just change the official cause of death? I'm not sure how that works...but I'm willing to bet this is what happened. Don't know why I (or the hospital or police or whoever) didn't think about this.

It just makes perfect sense. I wonder if this was medically ruled out during the autopsy or just ruled out by conversation with her mother. If they do inspect the home and do find toxic mold, does that change anything re: COD?

Regardless, if I were going to purchase their home, all this speculation would be enough to give me pause.

I thought something may have been going on in the home. It's odd both of them would die of similar causes, so close in time to each other. :(

The article in the OP really doesn't have any facts though...it just says "reportedly" this and "reportedly" that.

Here's an article where the Health Department denies they are investigating, and a doctor says that mold doesn't cause anemia.

It can definitely make you sicker, or more prone to sickness. TWice in my adult life I've had periods of time where I was sick ALL the time. Ever since making the (really bad) decision to have my tonsils out, any sickness I have goes straight to my lungs. Which makes illnesses for me pretty dramatic and a bit scary. During these two periods of my life, my lungs were TERRIBLE, to the point where I kept thinking I had developed TB or something just as bad.

Both times, upon moving, I found that there was mold right near my bed. Once I moved, the chronic illnesses stopped.

If I were suppressing my immune system by taking all the medications that these two people were taking, instead of strengthening my immune system so I could get through the illness (vs covering it up), I can definitely see that it could have gotten deadly.

So from my personal health experiences while having mold near my sleeping area, I can absolutely see how it could have made illnesses worse and possibly lead towards death easier than without the mold near them.

The source in OP's link is from NBC. (Listed at the bottom.) Your link doesn't list a source other than AOL Health. :confused3 Also, it could depend on which article was written later. Maybe NBC got later info? Or, the "reportedly" part is used to cover their butts, news-wise.

NBC was only reporting what Access Hollywood said was on TMZ. That was their source for the info. :confused3 It wasn't an NBC report, kwim?

The article I linked was from the website AOLhealth. The article says (at the top) it was an original report by them. So they interviewed the doctor they quoted, etc. They quoted reputable experts so I wouldn't discount it. It's not like the first article was an NBC report.

I get you now. That's what all that "reportedly" stuff comes from. :)

Still, TMZ, is surprisingly accurate at times. It's like they have their "reporters" hiding behind bushes & trees right where news stories may happen. Other sources are scrambling to catch up on what they've already confirmed.

Ironic.. Just last week or so I was watching an episode of "Medical Mysteries" and there was a woman who started off mildly ill, kept developing further unusual symptoms, and then eventually ended up on death's door in the hospital.. Turns out the culprit was toxic mold in her home - which caused some sort of very rare lung disease that 99.9% of doctors don't even look for.. When she finally recovered and was released from the hospital, she wasn't allowed to return to her home for anything - not even her clothing..

So - "could" this be the case here? Possibly - and especially since it can cause changes in the lungs that aren't readily picked up by so many doctors..

I think the house should be inspected - including ripping out walls, ceilings, and floors - if for no other reason than toprevent the possibilty that new owners could die there.. :(

Mold makes me nervous. We found out, after we moved here, that this complex had very bad mold issues. Our neighbor next door just moved out and said he found mold behind his headboard. Our upstairs neighbor and other neighbors in the back just moved out too. They hadn't been here long.

I do know that lately I've been having more headaches and stuffy and just feeling worse than usual. I have health issues so it could just be them acting up or could be allergies, or eye strain but I can't help but think of the mold issue.

How do you know if mold is making you sick?

Your circumstances don't sound too good, do they? Personally, I would head off to the doctor and tell him (or her) exactly what you have stated right here.. I'm sure there must be some kind of tests that might at least give the doctor a clue..

Good luck! Sounds kind of scary to me..

Anemia is listed as a symptom of toxic mold exposure on several websites...

This is the first one that came up.

Here is another one

I'm no doctor, and have no medical background, but a few of the articles I read did indicate that because the COD was pneumonia and anemia in both of them, this is why toxic mold was suspected. I just think it's very bizarre for both of them to have died of the same thing, esp one condition that is in no way contagious.

I agree. The thing with Brittney getting Anemia is it seemed like it was related to her not eating much...she looked really thin for years. Her husband on the other hand looked like he had a healthy appetite and was hardly a waif. I was shocked when it came out that he was anemic.

As for TMZ, I think a lot of their info is accurate. Not all of it, but Harvey Levin isn't an idiot and I don't think he wants to get himself sued.

He's a lawyer. So he reminds us at the end of his shows.

That show certainly has the money to keep people camped out a certain strategic places in Los Angeles, like the airports, marriage license bureau, County health dept., etc.

Yeah, when they listed anemia for her, it was no shocker. But for him...well, he hardly looked like someone who eats a diet low in iron. I know all of this is just speculation, but it just seems too coincedental to be dismissed by the coroners office without an examination of the home.

I have always found TMZ to be pretty darn accurate (and I'm a news snob). They reported a few celebrity deaths a couple of hours before any other news source (Bernie Mac and Chris Benoit are the 2 I remember). Yeah, Levin may be slimy, but he is not about to be sued for libel.
