Brit's Guide 09

Hi simon, i have a few of your books, and in one copy i looked at recently it has a tip about arriving at Fantasmic 45 minutes before the show time to get a good seat.

Last summer i was a cast member at fantasmic, and during the busy summer months we were at standing room sometimes an hour before the show!

A better tip for seeing Fantasmic would be to avoid Studios EMH nights completely, avoid trying to see it when the Magic Kingdom closes early for Parties (EVERYONE seemingly comes to the studios once MK shuts to see fantasmic) and always try for the 2nd show.

45 minutes would be okay in off peak times, but not peak!

where could i get a copy of the guide ?

All good book shops! As I speak my M-I-L is off to Borders for her first Brits Guide. :goodvibes WHSmiths and Amazon etc also carry it as it is a very popular guide (and well worth purchasing!)

Simon - thanks for such a great resource. :thumbsup2 Always a great read and the new format this year was fab. Can't really think of any improvements as it seems to answer any questions I have. Only request would be a picture of Buzz Lightyear as I was trying to calm DS down the other day by getting him to look for Buzz and I gave him the Brits Guide instead of our other guide book (which Buzz is in!) He got very angry with me! He may be in the 2008 version but that's untouched by toddler hands as we speak!:rotfl:

Simon, I would love to see more on the water parks esp Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and Aquatica and probably Wet and Wild to be fair altho I don't go there. Maps, pictures of more of the rides etc would be wonderful

Hi there,

Given the good exchange rate and the growing numbers of Brit owners of DVC, please could you consider a paragraph giving the ins and outs of the tour. Many Brits miss out of the initial sign up benefits because DVC seems to good to be true and only sign up having returned home months later.

Possibly dodgy territory but I'd welcome a review of the airlines that fly to Orlando including details on seat sizes/pitch, average prices (difficult I know), other perks, which airports they fly from and to, premium economy schemes and tips on how to get the best rate for UK Airport Parking etc.

This website maintains an excellent description of the drive to most destinations with ace colour photos of all the signage and when to get into which lane. It's getting a little out of date now but I've found it so useful when the sat nav plays up.

Could you incorporate similar with special tips for uk drivers. Certainly these forums are full of nervous drivers.

Hi Simon,

It might be worth mentioning that the double bag drop at MCO does not appear to be compulsory any longer.

Orlando Airport's Website hints at this, and I have read it in some other places ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g34515-i19-k1789311-MCO_airport-Orlando_Florida.html ) but I am not sure how accurate it is.

I am guessing that this will save people a lot of time.

Apologies if this is in the new book - planning to get it on payday :)

Best wishes,

John

Agreed, we took advantage last time.

Hi my suggestion would be to give more detail about the Disney restaurants, and feature them in the Dining Out section rather than mention them briefly in the sections on the hotels/theme parks. That way there would be one place in the book to go for dining rather than to hunt through the book for a particular restaurant.
Also, for non-Disney restaurants use zones for the locations (a bit like accommodations) e.g. WDW/LBV, Kissimmee, I-Drive etc. You could put that at the end of the description so then if you read about a restaurant and fancy it you can see immediately if it's in your area.

Making notes hurriedly!

and we do have a map showing the main villa areas (P 97), and you're quite right - there are a lot!

Hi Simon - thanks for that - I've been reading my guide everyday since I bought it and totally missed that page!! - DOh!!

That will teach me to read from cover to cover rather than flitting around like an excited mad woman!!!:rotfl:

thanks for your GREAT guide!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

There are some great suggestions and requests here, folks, keep them coming! :thumbsup2

We particularly like the ideas for better reviews of the airlines (which should certainly be possible), DVC and the better 'zoning' of the restaurants, which definitely makes sense if we can make it work space-wise.

We will certainly be up-dating the procedure for bag-drop at OIA, as this has changed since we last went to press.

And we definitely appreciate that tip re fantasmic, stal. It's great to get first-hand feedback of that nature and is certainly something we will incorporate next time.

I'd like more info on Disney Cruises, maybe that's for a new book!

My son loves the 10 best places for a burger. We have tried them all.

Maybe 10 best places to eat on site or in universal or something. I'm obessed with food at the mo, as this year we have the free dining plan.

I know they're not specifically "Orlando", but more and more people go further afield when visiting Florida these days and I really appreciate information on nature parks and local wildlife, and particularly beach areas:beach: - in more depth than you already cover.

I know beaches aren't everyone's cup of tea, but we know so many people whose Florida holidays are not just spent in 'Disney'
