Britney Spears' - If You Seek Amy.

Yeah, what she said. Some of the lyrics are "I don't know your 'effing' name, so what let's..." I'm sure you can figure out the rest.
In relation to Korn, or Nine Inch Nails, Spears is nothing.

And what about My Sharona? Does nobody care that they're singing about the joys of pedophilia? :)

Oh.
Ew.
Well, not ew. It's just not my thing.

I think I should be mildly disturbed my friends and I would sing "Lady Marmalade" all the time when we were younger after it came out.
:crazy2:

1975?:confused3 that song is oldddddd.

Y'know, I really don't care.
I think all over Britney Spears is crap, because her music is just kind of .. terrible.
My friends keep going 'Oh it's her come back, it's amazing, she's getting better' (Yeah, her what? 3rd come back? In The Zone was her 'first' years ago, and then it was that crappy Black Out, and now the Circus).
She's not getting better, she stays about the same level of terrible, and her songs all seem quite the same..

Anyways, I'm not worried about her music. I'm not worried about any songs specifically, but I'm pretty sure there's some songs that just out right say some things that the artist wants, rather than just hinting at it.

Yeah when I was young there was this poppy boy band that was really popular in the GTA called B44 (dunno if they were popular anywhere else)
But they had a song that went like
"If you get down on me,
I'll get down on you,
I will do anthing that you want me too
It's a game of give & take to make it through,
If you get down on me,
I'll get down on you tonight."
There's much more than that, but it's obvious what the song is about.

My friends & I LOVED this song and we made up dances to it and were confused when we weren't allowed to do our dance in the school talent show :rotfl: Not to mention I'm A Slave 4 U, Saturday Night Divas(Another rejected talent show number lol), Lady Marmalade (which is BASICALLY the some thing as If You Seek Amy--kids are saying the same thing, just in a different language ;) )etc.

Point is, i had NO idea what they were talking about and it didn't hurt me in anyway. It didn't make me skanky or some sort of freakish fiend or whatever. It was just a popular song that I liked.
So I really can't see how If You Seek Amy is hurting anyone.

I really don't think it's hurting anyone. My friends and I sang Lady Marmalade all the time on karaoke and I had no idea what the true meaning of that song was. I'm not scarred for life.

People are just too sensitive about stuff like this. They think everything is going to corrupt the children.

lol.
i have never heard it before.
but i just looked up the lyrics.
how... clever.
leave to to britney to come out with that.

I think that is more the problem. They seem to be advertising it as a "bubble gum pop" style song when it is most definatly not. Im sure for the most part it doesnt effect the kids who sing it and not know it, but it bothers the parents who have to listen to the kids sing about this, and then think they are doing these acts. Am I against the music, nah. I just think they should maybe try and focus it on an older demographic then the tweeny girls that like catchy tunes. I mean the "image" that Britney is trying to get out there is our sweet, innocent, little phsyco. And younger kids can relate to a cutsey girl, and parents see that. So the kids start singing her songs and parents get concerned. For someone that is TRYING to make herself a role model for the younger audience, she sure could definatly clean up a bit. Again I dont mind if she makes these song, but dont make it seem like its ok for kids to listen to this stuff and think that it is the "cool" thing to do.

Do you know any little girls that listen to Britney? They're all listening to Hannah Montana by now. Our society has bashed her so much that she's viewed as a joke. Hannah Montana's the real deal. :upsidedow

i think Britney is trailer trash
i hope to god nobody is wanted to if you seek amy!

Honestly Im not sure. My closest relative is 14 and she listens to my style of music. Im just basing my view back when I was that age. I guess times have changed. Im also ashamed, i had a Britney CD at one point!

haha I actually like this song.
I think it is catchy, and honestly should not be taken too seriously. Most of the younger generation has no idea what it means. & honestly if a song like soulja boy can be played(over and over again might I add) or lollipop, then this song is nothing. Actually basically any song played on these type of stations have some kind of sexual meaning to them these days, and it is really obvious most of the time.

It is a catchy song, and if parents don't want there kids listening to those type of songs, buy clean CD's or a soft rock family friendly music station. :)

the songs pretty catchy i like the beat and when im in the hallways since my name is aimee(pronounced amy) my friends will say "if you seek amy!" lol i think it's a good song personally i dont like britney spears and at first i didnt even notice the meaning of the song until my friend told me

I've heard the song, but I was going to bet that it had something to do with her kids.

That's craazzzyyy because my new girlfriend's name is Amy. For some reason, I LOVE Britney Spears' music. She's a legend. She can title her songs whatever she wants.

Britney's music is no longer classified as sugar sweet pop. It's now more like dance music. I doubt young kids have a ton of interest in her. They have other idols to look up to.

yeah i agree with that, she's definitley not bubble gum anymore, and hasn't been since the 'i'm a slave 4 u' days lol.
she's definitley more dance-y, i hear her alot on clubs.

and i also agree with your second point, i really don't think there are many girls looking up to her now-adays as i used to when i was younger.
they have their mileys, and demis, and selenas, and ashley tisdales. etc

I don't like her music, but I don't find it offensive, either.
It's not hurting anyone, so why worry about it?
