Hi
Any advice on getting british chocs/drinks etc in Orlando. I know of a store in Kissimmee which does sell some Brit goods but does anyone know of any near I-Drive?:scratchin

the only one that I know of is the International Food Court, but that is off Jhon Young parkway, where is the one in Kissimmiee? You can also get British stuff in Walmart and publix, but don't forget that the Cadburys chocolate out here is not made in England, and it does tast different!!!!!

United Kingdom in Epcot sell a few selected things like biscuits and chocolate. Sadly in the summer, they'd stopped selling Walker's crisps! :p

Don't buy it there, take it with you :thumbsup2 , we take loads of bars of Galaxy with us every year just in case I feel the need for some :rotfl2:

This is not meant as a flame, but a genuine question
WHY? You are on holiday in a different country. Why not try the local goods and foods?
Why is it that all over the world where you go, its oNLY the British who want to insist on buying "British" foodstuffs when on holiday? :)

There is an English shop at old town.
If the drinks are tea & coffee i've always took my own with me. I have never had a problem getting through customs and are packed in my case and make sure that they are still sealed.
Walmart and Publix stock some english brands but not a great deal.:) :scratchin

Thanks, you did say what I stopped myself from saying...

I can't understand it either, but that is me - US supermakets generally put any shops in the UK to shame by the range of food and drinks that they stock. They don't always stock exactly the same bands as the UK, BUT the array or choice is amazing.

But it is horses for courses. :confused3

but some people do like british chocolate because that is what we like. i personally hate reece's pieces and hershey bars and the chocolate in the states tastes vastly different. so too the flavours of crisps are different too.

so in typical human nature style we dont like change we like what we have.

and the question was where can you buy - not a suggestion of what else the op might wish to buy.

but we can now get hershey bars and some reece's product in the uk now too.

And you can bet that quite a few Americans come over to the UK and ask where they can buy Hersheys and where the nearest McDonalds is...

I could quite easily move to Florida and not miss anything Brittish but no way could I eat Hersheys chocolate, its disgusting, your mouth stays lined with it for hours. Glad I am not a chocolate eater.
Might miss my Black pudding, tripe and Yorkshire puddings though come to think of it:rotfl: :rotfl2:

we met a couple of Americans in India last December and they are sending me some Taco Bell sauce in return for me sending them Cadbury's Flake!

I have to say I prefer Cadbury's choc to any other, but I'm partial to all the peanut butter chocs you can get in the states, and usually stock up when we go.
I have to say that anything I think I might crave on hols, I take with me - 'just in case';)

OT but earlier DH said that he fancied Indian food tonight - so I asked what time the flight was as the food we had in India was just wonderful. :)

I understand what you are saying about trying the local stuff...and I do (love Sierra Mist and Mountain Dew) but my partner is a fussy get and will only drink Irn Bur or Pepsi at a push............

I agree with the posters who say that the american chocolate tastes different - it does...and I dont like the peanutty stuff (think I just invented that word).......I know that you can get chocolate from Epcot but it is a bit expensive (park premium I guess)

There is a shop in Old Town where you can get Flake, Dairy Milk, Bourneville, Walkers Crisps and Wotsits..............along with UK tea, coffee and papers...bit of a trek from I Drive but worth it ...by the end of the first week I crave Galaxy chocolate...........:woohoo:

Obi Wan and Boo Boo - you're spot on.

My wife hankers after some 'real' cadbury's chocolate when we're in Florida and it drives me nuts. We're in a foreign country and we've chosen to go there - that means we eat their chocolate.

It's like when you go to the Med and the 'British' pubs are full on a Sunday with people eating roast beef - unbelievable !!

Whats wrong with buying some lovely fruit instead of all that chocolate???
Try some watermelon, Florida oranges .. or grapes! You can get them freely out there and they are good for you!!!!
There is so much variety out there, we hardly ever worry about British food. I think the only thing I really miss is the instant porridge. I can never quite manage their Quaker oats!!

They have LOADS of instant (well microwaveable) porridge in the US - that's where I discovered it (never used to eat the stuff until I saw it in a Colorado supermarket a few years ago). What is more, they have far more flavours than we do over here (cinamon raison etc.etc.). I struggle to find unflavoured, but it can be done (I find most of the flavours "too sweet" for first thing in the morning....) - I was eating plain instant porridge each morning whilst on a ski holiday in Colorado a couple of weeks back...

You buy it in boxes with individual sachets. Mix a sachet with either milk or water into a bowl and microwave as instructed.

Look along the "hot cereals" aisle in the supermarkets. If you can't find it, ask - I THINK that it is sometimes kept seperate from the other (cold) breakfast cereals. In Colorado it seemed to be kept with the breakfast and Granola bars...

Hi Boo,
We looked high and low for it last year, and coundn't find any at all!! My DM has just come back from a stay in Fort Myers and couldn't get any there either!!
I'll have to have a real good look again this summer, or else take some satchets.
I must say, I love the syrup one!

Gosh! my scottish mother would be turning in her grave, INSTANT Porridge! INSTANT??? :rotfl:

There is only one way, with Scots Porridge Oats in a saucepan, and then lightly salted, NOIT sugar.

Sorry Obi.. I'm a working mum.. haven't got time for saucepans....its hard enough getting my DS out of bed on time!!!
2.30mins in the microwave... marvellous!!
