Hi

I am hoping you guys can help me.

We are looking to book British Airways between NY-Heathrow-Barcelona round trip, but we only want to upgrade one way.

If we book our flight, can we upgrade just one leg (under Manage My Booking) or do we have to upgrade round trip?

Right now, when I go to book online, it wants me to upgrade both ways, but I didn't know if it would give me more choices once I booked and can manage the flight.

I hope this makes sense.

You should be able to book two different classes of flight within the same booking.

When you fill in your search details on the home page, choose economy, and when it takes you to the page with the flight prices, select the flights you want ie the days of travel and press continue. When you get to the next page, it confirms the dates / prices you have selected, but there is a drop down box above the flight details which says 'change outbound [or inbound] class'. If you select the one you want to change and the class you want to travel, the price will update and you can continue with your booking.

It's not obvious - I'm not sure why you have to get this far to see your options, but this should work for you.

Otherwise, yes, once you have booked, you can upgrade just one way in Manage my Booking.

I am able to see what you are saying when I go from NYC directly to Heathrow, but when I try to book NYC to Barcelona (with a connection in Heathrow), it doesn't let me do that.

Bummer.

Maybe try calling them as what you want is a little more complex than the norm.
