Brita water filter vs. buying bottled water

Has anybody tried the filters you attach directly to your faucet?

We had a Pur one in around 2004 or so (when we moved we bought the new fridge with filtered water dispenser). I thought it took forever to fill up anything with water...very tedious!
But that was also the older styles, so maybe they have faster flow-thru rates now.

I have a Brita filter that attaches to your faucet, it is also disposable and lasts for a year. I bought it at Target, it was 10% off when I got it a few months ago, but it does have a coupon inside for your next filter. It was $20 and well worth it. We live in FL and water does not taste that great here (I don't mind it because I've lived here all my life but my mom hates it, she's from NYC), and it tastes just like spring water.

http://clarity.brita.com/ I bought the kitchen one.

We have a Brita faucet mount- we started with a pitcher in the fridge but I can't stand to drink COLD water so I like the tap water through the filter. I buy the replacement filters on eBay for about half price retail. It is slower than straight out of the tap but you just gotta be patient!

We started because we weren't sure about our well water- tasted good and didn't make us sick but figured Brita would only make it better. Now we are on the rural water system and our water is so chlorinated I wouldn't survive without the Brita.
