Brita Filter Bottle Question...or open for water bottle suggestions!

Are these a good choice for the parks? do they stay cold for any amount of time? Also....can you mix a packet of drink mix into them or would it be filtered out as you drink?? If you use Disney ice, doesn't the water still taste bad?? If there's a better bottle than a Brita, please advise!! Thanks so much! I'll be pregnant for our July trip and am pretty concerned about staying hydrated!

I have been looking at these as well. Good question about the filter. I had something similar before...not the Brita...and the filter was removable. Florida water taste really sulfury to me. The flavor packets make it drinkable, but if the filter works well I probably just have straight water.

Don't use the drink mix w/ the filter; it will clog the filter. If you ahve to have the drink mix, squeeze the water throguh the filter into another bottle and then add the drink mix.

I have the Brita bottle. It is not insulated, so the ice melts pretty quickly in warm temps. I don't have to have cold water, so it's not a problem for me. If you have to have your water cold, I would look for another option.

agreed about it not keeping it cool. however, it greatly improved the taste of the water. i had no problem drinking the water straight from the brita bottle, as the filter really did its job. and we just kept throwing ice in there, or ice water from counter service. it really worked well.

I have the Bobble bottles for my DH and I. I haven't used them, but I got them for free as part of a deal and they have a filter, so I guess they'll be ok.

You can get a crapload of water bottles at the grocery store for just a few dollars.

Cheap, easy.

We have used the bobble filter bottles with great success. I do agree about them not staying cold. We used a built insulated sleeve for them. These worked great and they had a handle with a strap that has snaps, so we could snap them on the stroller (could also strap to a belt or bag). These helped keep the bottles(any bottles) colder longer.

We used Bobble Bottles at Disney. They made the water taste perfectly fine. We filled them at the resort and then later in the day using free water from the quick service places. The initial cost is several dollars, but then the whole time in the parks and in the room we never paid for a single drink for our whole 8 day stay. We bought drinks in restaurants during meals and a few adult beverages for dh and me, but that's it.
Plus we've had them now for several months and still use them almost daily. At home, I fill them about half way (but below the filter), freeze them and then in the morning before we head out I add more water to the top. That keeps them cold for a long time.
I highly recommend the Bobbles. They are BPA free, recyclable and save you from being wasteful by buying lots of bottled water at the grocery store. On vacation, I just used dish soap on them. At home, I also boil the filters (as recommended) about once a week. They do not go in the dishwasher. I bought mine at Target.

This may be true, but the refill will not be as pleasant. That's where the filter comes into play.

I had the Brita ones and they did work.

I liked the Brita over the the Bobble for a couple of reasons.

The Brita had a wide mouth and you could easily put ice cubes in them and I found insulated sleeves for them in the camping section of Walmart. Can't say how well they worked because we carried them around in a cooler backpack all day. Also the Brita has more of a standard water bottle shape so it fits in cup holders and other things like the sleeves on backpacks.

The only plus I could see for the Bobble is that you replace the cap and pop valve every time you replace the filter.

I thought these were discontinued, however you have given me new hope, especially after a visit to the Brita website! We can't get them in Canada however I may order some for resort delivery if I can't get them in the Buffalo area somewhere.

They WERE discontinued. Brita just started selling them again a few months ago. I believe there was some sort of a patent dispute which must have been settled.

I have a couple of the originals and I have now bought the new version too. They work fine, and make Disney's water taste great. And, as a previous poster noted, the wide mouth makes it easy to add ice. The bottles are very sturdy and fit in standard holders.

The Brita bottles work great! However, if you go when the parks are not busy, it's easier to just ask for ice water at QS places. We went in September, and after a few days, we left the bottles at home and just split a free ice water every couple of rides.

I'm a real person who uses a Bobble in real life almost every day. The fact that it has an attractive design is secondary to its usefulness to me and my kids.

I was all ready to buy the Bobble and then the Brita came out. I went to Target because it was the only place I found both.

I took the Brita back to the Bobble section and I was concerned that the Bobbles were too fat and I that I would not be able to find insulated sleeves for them and that they wouldn't fit in the side sleeves of the cooler backpack I was also taking. Before I bought the Britas I tried to find any kind of sleeve for the Bobbles and found nothing even on their own website.

Well I got the the Brita and found regular sleeves that fit them at Walmart. Even in the sleeves they still fit in he back pack.

As for the Bobbles others have found out they don't fit normal things like the cup holders in their car because of the "attractive design" .

Both will work at WDW because they both use the same carbon type filter. Its just the Bobble won't fit any cup holders like on a stroller.

ETA: The sleeves really weren't necessary since we kept them in the cooler back pack which was not my plan at all. Every time someone wanted a drink the cooler person had to turn around a then the bottle yanked out of the back pack and then shoved back in.

I swear by mine!!! The only thing I don't like is that the water comes out a little slow. Sometimes I feel like I'm holding a baby bottle (squeezing with both hands ) when I'm drinking it to get a nice, big gulp. Haha!! I also agree that it doesn't keep cold long, but you can fill it up frequently, so I didn't think that was a big deal.

I was really disappointed in my Brita bottle.

As a previous poster mentioned, the water does not come out of the bottle easily. I tried to squeeze the bottle to get more water, and it leaked everywhere. Mine ended up in the garbage after the first (attempted) use.

Maybe it was just part of a bad batch with an inadequate seal?

I heard about the leaking and removed the gray ring thing on the bottle and it made for a leak free seal.

As for having to squeeze hard, any filter bottle is going to have that issue .
