Brit seeking help with Toronto, Kawarthas and NOTL tips please!

I'm looking for hotel recommendations from kind Canadian DISers for our summer trip. We've planned:
3 nights in Toronto,
4 nights Kawarthas or thereabouts and
3 nights NOTL or Niagara

We are 2 adults plus 2 DDs ages 17 and 21 (so 4 adults really). We're looking for something to give us more space than a basic 2xdoubles room in Toronto and NOTL, and maybe an upscale lakeside housekeeping cabin or lodge (?) kind of place in the Kawarthas.

All suggestions very gratefully received - my internet searching has left my head spinning and I'm reeling from too much choice! I know places get booked early for the summer months so I need to start making some decisions soon.

Try the Westwind Inn or Viamede Resort for the Kawarthas. I personally have never stayed at either place, but I do hear they are very nice. Just my two cents..........Rob (Snowwhite's DH)

I guess downtown. One of my main aims, with teenage daughters in tow, is to be in an area where we feel safe and comfortable to walk down the street. I had wondered about the waterfront area, but all suggestions gratefully received.

Whilst I'm certain that Toronto isn't one big hot-bed of depravity , I have been a bit concerned to read some hotel reviews that talk about hotels in 'undesirable' areas with strip clubs and adult bookshops!

Jarvis Street
Church Street
Sherbourne Street
Gerard Street


I'm 26, female and I live right downtown, in the core and I walk everywhere at almost anytime (exception from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., nothing but crazies out then ). The core is safe. Not much different than downtown London.

You may not want to venture to different areas of town like Regent Park, Rexdale, Jane and Finch, parts of Scarborough... They're like areas of Marylebone (sp?) in Glasgow ;o)

There are some great hotels downtown like the Delta Chelsea, Westin Harbour Castle, Novotel Toronto Centre, Radisson... try checking out expedia.ca for other suggestions....

We now have our accommodation booked in Peterborough here, and in NOTL here

Now we need just one night for our stopover at the airport when we arrive and three nights in Toronto

My favourite stopover hotel near the Toronto airport is the International Plaza.
They offer a wonderful indoor pool as well as two water slides.

How about Marriot Hotel (Toronto Downtown) that is connected to the Eaton Center?

Hiya,

There are tonnes of great hotels downtown. My favourite is the Hotel Germain ( I forget the website but you could google it.) It's quite pricey though not as much by UK standards. If you go to hotwire, you can get some of those places downtown quite cheaply. I looked into it b/c I'm going with a friend from Wales for a night in April before Easter.
