Bringing wine

Possibly the most stupid question to be asked here today - but maybe not.

I'd like to take a bottle of wine with me. Only one, as I don't drink much. I'd rather not buy at WDW as I know the prices are high and for one bottle it's not worth ordering from outside the resort.

Now if I sound like a total numpty, it's because I've only been on holiday abroad once before - to Disney!

So I've been googling around and it seems that I can, if I take it in my checked luggage.
But it's a risk. I know that luggage gets some pretty rough treatment sometimes, so I'd be wrapping and packing *very* well and still taking a risk on our holiday clothes.
I can anticipate that DH wont like the idea...

So, can I? Should I? Would you? Or not worth the risk?

Also waiting to me told I'm wrong about all the above anyway and then I can have the choice taken away from me

The prices aren't that bad at the resorts to be honest.

I think we took champagne last year for our anniversary cruise and had it in the suitcase which was fine. A good solid wine bottle can take some beating!

Are you not venturing out of Disney at all as any of the supermarkets do some pretty good wine and not expensive. Also the Hess garage at the edge of MK sells bottles and not pricey particularly.

Rather than checked luggage, I'd probably go for buying from duty free, then you can carry it on.

Really unlikely that we will leave the bubble. We don't drive which makes things tricky to start with.

If the resort prices aren't too bad then I might just go with that - I'd always heard they were quite expensive.

Buying duty free and carrying on - I wasn't sure this was allowed?

Definitely is otherwise the duty free shop wouldn't be full of booze.

If it's champagne you like then the airport always sells some at not much different to supermarket. I'm not sure how much a normal red or white would be.

In restaurants and bars in Disney it can add up buying by the glass but the shops aren't tooooo bad. Not value but not too bad. France in Epcot sells a few nice bottles and I seem to remember they're not that bad. again particularly if you like sparkling.

Someone else mentioned the Hess Garage - we discovered this on our second trip - just across the road from the Bus Stops - we use to buy 18 cans of bud for $12 !! beats the $6 a beer at the resort.

Honestly - easy as anything to get to - but for the sake of only wanting one bottle - just buy it at the resort.
