Heading to the World at the end of June.

Just wondering since I am going to bring a Wireless router for the Ipad in the room, where do I pack it when I am going? Does it go in the suitcase or my carry on? If I pack it in suitcase do I let them know it is in there? I just get this image of them finding a Wireless router and getting the wrong idea. I also can't imagine having it in carry on with going through security?

Thank for any advice!

I wouldn't worry about it - people fly with all kinds of electronics. A wireless router isn't anything they haven't seen before. If it was expensive, you might want to put it in your carry-on. Otherwise just put it in your checked luggage. It might be a good idea to put it in a ziplock bag, though, just in case your luggage gets wet.

We just returned from WDW yesterday. I did not bring a router, but I had a Kindle, iPad and a Vz MIFI in my carry-on bag along with their respective chargers. The MIFI & charger easily fit in a zip lock bag together. I put the other chargers in their own zip bag. The Kindle was in it's own leather case and I put the iPad in a Belkin sleeve which kept it well-protected. I had some other miscellaneous items in the carry-on as well -- prescriptions, a light jacket. I had no issues going through airline security at either airport.

Either way you decide to bring the router, just "pad" it a bit to protect it. You should be fine.

There is no problem bringing a wireless router in your carryon. I travel with a lot of electronics and never have any problem with TSA.

By a lot I mean:
laptop with associated power cord,
wireless router, with plug and Cat 5 patch cord
Camera, with separate charger and cable to plug into computer for downloading
and sometimes a ham radio hand-held radio, also with associated power cord and extra antenna.

I guess I'm clueless. Are you saying Disney does not have wireless internet ?

Nope. $9.95 a day per device. I brought my router last time I went. PAid per day but we could all hook up with one 9.95 s day. I have way too many teens and electronic devices!

what if I have 3 rooms booked, can we all use the same 9.95 per day?

With a router if you don't secure it might reach. But in the room you have wired Internet. I know there is free wireless in the CR and GF lobby. There is a sticky on the resort page.

You have to plug in (ethernet cable) as it's not wireless. There are cables in your room to use.

FYI, DVC members do not have to pay for internet service.

And as for packing, I always carry my electronics and anything of value in my carry on. TSA has seen it all (I'm a photographer and rarely do I have to open my bag to show all the electronics inside).
