Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Since Palo and other ressies have already been made we won't arrive at port until after noon but I don't know what exact time or anything. No reason to sit in the terminal. I'd rather see a little more of California. Someone posted before that they didn't begin boarding until 12:45 or so.

Thanks for the info, I emailed them for information. Are you doing animal encounters only, or that and a shore dive?

Your welcome. Since DD is not certified we are doing the animal encounter dive. She has done snuba in St. Thomas and has snorkled Grand Cayman and Castaway, so this is a logical next step. :sunny:

Whoops...I guess I should give more specifics...

I meant in L.A. What time will you try to get to the port?

Deb

I'm still planning to get there early. I'll have something about this in the next newsletter. What Marsha said is correct, they are boarding by zone, but I read some reports of people getting there later and not boarding still for a couple hours. I don't think it really matters too much, you'll be waiting at the port no matter what time you arrive. I want to get to the lunch at Topsiders!

A group of five of us from Los Angeles/San Diego will be on the repo cruise, who else is from this area? Are there any meet and greets planned?

revins
Woohoo! San Diego gets another cruiser spot! there are actually nineteen other groups from the southland besides you according to my map info. Which city are you actually from? I'll add you to the map!

Hey Whiskers,

Just came back from Costco today and they had the snorkeling set. Came with flippers, bag, ect...

Deb

Thanks Deb!
I'm going to go this morning (was going last night and then got caught up in the boys baseball)
I was reading on the forum side your thread about the anti nausea patch. I've never tried the patch but I do use meclizine (they sell it as Bonamine here in Canada). It works great for me. I haven't had a nausea problem ever while taking it (even on Tower of Terror - but that is another topic that we already went over!! :rotfl2: ).

EyeRN -do you know anything about contact lenses? I am convinced that my car motion sickness is much worse when I wear my contacts - but when I asked my contact lens supplier she looked at me like I was nuts! I have those toric lenses - I don't know - do they rotate or something in the eye?

Arlene: I totally forgot that Zellers is only up here! You are a good detective! :)

Hi Revins :wave2:

We are from San Diego. Are you from San Diego or Los Angeles (for everyone not in California that is worlds apart down here!)

Michelle

The group of five of us are from:

Mission Viejo, CA (Southern Los Angeles) - 3
Irvine, CA (Southern Los Angeles) - 1
Rancho San Diego, CA (Eastern San Diego) - 1

Hi revins,

Yes, we live in the Long Beach area. There are no "official" Southern California meets planned, but we have met up with winotracy, askageek, dletz, and Howard. Hope to meet up with DenverVal in July too, as well as AuntyBrat & ivanova & families. Do you have APs to DL/DCA? I'm off soon from work for the summer (educator in public schools), so if you do, perhaps we can meet up there for ice cream and/or some rides?

Read Tracy's newsletter for many, many pieces of info. Feel free to PM me too. I'm on this site less often than some others though. See newsletter for complete info.

Welcome!

Barbara

We were getting on the Magic for the first time a year ago today!!! Wonder how Tropical Depression Arlene, maybe already Hurricane Arlene is effecting the cruisers in Port Canaveral today?

Hmm not sure. I can see where having worn glasses while riding and suddenly not might change your preception. I'll ask at work on monday.

Actually--we only got a some rain and wind........even some stretches of sun. Probably affected the west coast of FL more. (Not to mention the Panhandle.).

My mother is in the panhandle, she got rain, as usual, nothing else.

My kids are very interested in pen friends for the cruise, coming from the UK it is difficult to join in the kids chat due to time zones etc., currently mine are in bed for school tomorrow.

But if any Child on the cruise wants to e-mail my Children, please PM me, I have two children, a Girl aged 9, and my Son, 6 who will become 7, on the cruise.

Andrew,

We sent your DD another postcard from WDW about 2 weeks ago. Did she receive it?

We sent out 4 postcards to fellow cruise girls. I hope everyone received them. DD is not good with email. She is excited to SEE potential new friends, but writing doesn't seem to be her thing. She just wants to be on the cruise face-to-face and play in the Lab. :grouphug:

Anyone have kids those ages?? Mine really need some friends to hang out with. My DD has been on 4 cruises and still doesn't want to go to the Club although I know she would love it! Maybe if she has a friend....

And my DS will have just turned 12. He is very small for his age yet very mature. He loves to hang out getting pizza or going to a movie. I would love for him to have a pal too. You can PM me.

Getting excited!! Anyone know what excursions they are planning on doing with kids? I'm still trying to decide.

I have a daughter who is 8 and son who just turned 11.

My daughter is 6. She loves the kids clubs and I can hardly get her out of them. She loves meeting people from this board, and would love to get to know someone more her own age.

I thought I'd share what I am doing with my children so they earn money to spend on the cruise. I am asking my children to do some math, some writing, and a half hour of reading per weekday over the summer. They have to do this no matter what. If they do it without complaining they get one dollar per day in their "cruise account". If they complain then no money goes into that account for that day. If they do it every weekday up until cruise time without complaining then I put an extra $20 into their "account". They do not have to do school work over the weekend but if they do they will earn a dollar per weekend day for extra credit.

I have never used money to motivate before and I guess this is really payment for good attitude. I hope it works!

Kathy,

That sounds great! And I'm going to give you one more thing that you can use (that benefits me :teeth: ). To get the kids more into the cruise and what's going on, I was asking some of the kids today if someone would write an article for the July 1 or July 15 newsletter on anything kid related-cruise related. That could give them an idea so there won't be complaining :) . If they or any other kids are interested, just let me know!
