Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

Hmmm - shopping sounds like more fun that any of my WDW park ideas :teeth:
Sandy - tell me more about those outlet stores! Are they very close to Downtown Disney? We will have a rental car. I also have to find an EBgames or something after the cruise. Nintendo releases a new DS game about dogs on Aug 22 - the boys are most upset it's not out before we go.
Diane

Not sure of the exact location but only a couple exits north of WDW is a big outlet Mall with a Disney store and a Universal store. It is on the east side of the road. Also, on the north end of International (past Universal) is a number of outlet malls (actually one mall, just divided among a number of buildings).

Well - it finally happened :cool1: The Doc fairy finally came this morning

GOT MY DOCS and am ready to sail

Congratulations!!

Question: Inside the Docs it states that you are not to bring coolers unless they are for medical reasons, formula, etc. Has anyone brought a cooler onboard for other reasons? We purchased a collapsible one on wheels to carry some wine onboard. Is this going to be a problem?

I called DCL today and was told that they WON'T send the missing Bahamas immigration forms...I can pick them up at the port and they won't take any time at all to fill out. I'll try later and hope for a different CM. Tried telling her that I wanted everything done in advance...no help.

The real reason I'm writing is that there is no reason for this thread to be off page 1.

See you real soon......

I have a stack of the Bahamas immigration forms...I would be happy to send them to you in the mail...I can mail them out tomorrow!!! Just PM your address. My friend picked a bunch when she was in FL last month. I will compare it to the one that came in my docs to make sure it has not been updated.

Are you thinking of Belz outlet mall....if so it has a few buildings with many stores in each....not sure of the exit but I am sure you can find online directions. There are two different disney outlets (sometimes they have cruise stuff)....

Here is a link to the Belz website I just found online...

http://www.belz.com/factory/locations/orlando/

There is also a newer mall called Festival Mall....

I'm aware of 3 outlet malls/areas near WDW.

Premier Outlets and Buena Vista Outlets are very near each other and near WDW. When leaving WDW by Downtown Disney, you take the road that goes past all the hotels--Hilton, Best Western, etc. DD and I call it "hotel row." That puts you at an intersection where right across the street is "crossroads" shopping center with a McDonald's directly in front of you on the left. This is 535. Turn Right. You will go past the entrance to I-4. About 2 miles ahead on the left is BV outlets. They have a Disney outlet (used to be Character Corner), Vanity Fair, etc.....

I haven't been there since the Disney outlet has its new name. As Character corner, it was spotty--I've been there when they had a great selection and great prices and other times when they had very little selection. Got my best deals right after the 100 Years of Magic ended at WDW--they had all the "leftover" merchandise with this logo at great prices.

Also off of 535, you will come to a sign that says "Mary Queen Shrine" (don't ask me?). Turn Left there (I think there is a Bahama Breeze there, but don't count on that). It is a curvy road, and on the right is Premier Outlets. It is a larger mall area. If you continue on the curvy road, you come to a Publix market and an Outback Steakhouse.

To get to Belz outlets, you have to get on I-4 and go several exitx toward Orlando. It is huge--several large buildings. The selection was better many years ago....

Premier Outlets was the first one I mentioned. Belz was the second. Thanks!

Thanks for the shopping info everyone!

Tracy - I am going through the list of all my things to worry about (LOL) this morning. Just wrote up the lengthy animal care instructions for my sister!
Anyway - did I read that your last newsletter ( :sad1: ) is coming out Aug 15? And the navigator? Just that we leave Aug 16 and I don't want to miss it!

You are behind Diane! My last newsletter was August 1. I gotta pack for a cruise you know!! :rotfl2:

I am not doing a Navigator, but rather a listing of the Fools events onboard. It is pretty much done but will be updated over the next week and e-mailed to everyone on August 14 by end of day. It is a one page, two-sided document (or two page one sided if you choose) and the link is with the newsletters, but is not active until I upload it :rotfl:

I will have a few extra lists for those who aren't able to download it and print it before they leave.

Has anyone here signed up for the 12:45PM - 5:15PM Chileno Bay Snorkling Adventure. My DD and I well be doing it while DH goes on the Can San Lucas Sportfishing excursion.

I'm trying to got off a few more pounds before we leave, boy it gets harder and harder as I get older and older. Do you think DCL gets their potatoes in big ole burlap sacks, cause I'll need one to wear home. :scared: I can just look at food and gain weight. If anyone wants a workout buddy give me a call. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Anyone know about check-in? Can one person drop off everyone else with the luggage? Can everyone get checked in while the person returns the rental car? If so, what ID should they keep with them? What is needed for check in - docs? passport?

Thanks!

Must be the same flight as you, Frontier's 6:20 flight, Saturday evening. We're spending the morning and afternoon at DD also, maybe see you there along with Melinda, who's doing the same thing too!
Yep, that's our flight, too. See you there!

We are headed for the Premium Outlet mall. VERY EASY to get to from Downtown Disney. Take a left out of Downtown Disney's parking lot, take a right on Hotel Plaza, take a right on 535 and take a left on Vineland. It is off of Vineland. Never been to Buena Vista outlets but it has my curiosity. Premium is very nice.

Don't forget to stop the newspaper and notify your credit card company that you are headed out of the country. We didn't the first time and was cut off for our good (understandable) . We were able to work everything out but I now contact the CC company.

Finally got Howard's schedule. Friday and Saturday off. Hurray. He's also supposed to have Aug 21-Sep 3rd off for vacatoin. Now all we need is to make sure he has Sep 4 and 5th off as we don't come home til late on the 5th. Unfortunately that scheule won't be out until the day we're sailing through the canal.

Yes, for check in one the luggage and all people except one can be dropped with the porter. Just be sure that the driver keeps his photo ID to get back into port.

For anyone who cares....I stopped at Sears today and found some cute LandsEnd shorts and skorts--$9.99 - 14.99. Oh, do I need more stuff for my suitcase. At least this way I'll look a little better.

:cat:

Erica, Just wanted to let you know in case I haven't before we are interested in the DVD.

Been to the outlets they are really neat. Actually bought my first pair of Birks there.

Practice packed yesterday, my suitcase came in at 62 pounds, Delta's limit is 50. So 12 plus pounds had to come out. Managed to get it down to 58 and a bit over. My carry on is 18 pounds, nowhere near the 40 allowed. Gee I wonder if there isn't something else I must bring. Phil got lucky, he gets to carry on both bottles of wine, cause his is a hard side and mine is an old one of his.

My brother finally got married. Now I can get into my cruise mode. I am reading everyone started packing. I am a late packer. Hopefully, I won't forget anything.

Also do not like this thread is so low. Bumping it up. :Pinkbounc

Hi all -

At the last minute DH & I were able to get on this cruise last week :) This will be our 3rd time on the Magic and we're really looking forward to the trip. We'll be easy to spot, as DH is in a wheelchair due to polio as a child.

I don't need to know the info today, just if you are coming today. I'll check when I get home, but off hand the sweeter white wines or lighter red wines seem to be the ones that we have the fewest. Oh, and dessert wines. Lots of dry whites and fuller bodied reds.
