Bringing Stuffed Animals to Park?

I was thinking about buying some souvenirs early from the disney store online and bringing them with us as a surprise for my son. It seems like they frequently have the medium plush animals on sale for 2 for $28. Is this a savings over what you would purchase them for in the park? I"m thinking it might be easier/more fun to just have him pick out one or two while we are there. Of course, these could be 'pixie dust' presents that Mickey gives him....:)

I love all stuffed animals but I would not want to carry around the parks. Maybe send your DH and DS ahead of you and put them out in your room. That way it would be a great surprise after a day at the park.

Pixie Dust is added on our trips :wizard:
Not only does it add that element of surprise and excitement when you get back to the room for the kids, you know it will fit in your luggage and has been paid for!;)
DH or I would "forget" something as we were leaving and send the other and kids ahead to fill the water bottles and put out the "magic."
The kids would get to choose something at the parks too with $ they saved or were given within $ and size limit.
Have FUN:goodvibes

I am going to guess that those would be way cheaper than buying in the parks. My daughter did not ask for a stuffed animal, but I paid $20 for a helium baloon. You just have to weigh the benefit of saving the money and having to carry the toys around all day. My personal rule for my daughter is that she can't buy anything that has to be carried until the end of the day just before we leave the park. However, if you are staying in a Disney resort, they have made it very easy for you to spend your money because you can pay right then and they will deliver it to your resort so that you don't have to carry it.

I think the online sale would save you maybe 4 or 5 bucks, but that savings would be wiped out by the cost of shipping. (Unless you have a FS code.) My DD loves stuffed animals and it's just not the same if we order online ahead of time. We thought about it, but it is so much more fun for her to pick them out at Disney.

If you are staying on grounds you can have it shipped to your resort from the parks or DTD. Or you can have it sent to guest relations at the park to be picked up at the end of the day so you don't have to carry it around if you aren't staying on grounds or are staying on grounds and leaving the next day.

Oh, I missed the whole pixie dust element. That is a neat idea. I think I would do what the previous poster suggested and maybe have a stuffed animal as a pixie dust surprise, and then maybe let him pick out one at the parks too if the budget allows.

The medium ones in the parks are around $20-$30 for the most part. Whenever we go, DD always gets to pick out a stuffed animal before the parade. It's a tradition that she . Though it is cheaper to get them from the Disney Store it would also be fun and memorable for him to pick one or two out himself. Another thing to remember is that the ones from the parks have an insignia that says "Walt Disney World" usually on a paw or whatever. Since your DS is 4 I assume you'll have a stroller? Just store it in a bag in the stroller basket or something. That's what we always do whenever we are on rides. We've never had a problem with theft though not to say that it doesn't happen. Just don't leave it exposed. Anyway, my DD loves to cuddle it and carry it around and in shows.

I'm going to be in the minority here. We bought a medium sized Mickey for $20 at the parks. He went EVERYWHERE with us. He was our special totem, you might say.

He had quite the trip -

got blue lollipop stuck to him (that never came off!)
got run over by the stroller more times than I could count
rode the tea cups with us
danced with my DD and Tigger at AK

just to name a few...

We never had any problems keeping up with him. He just "napped" in the stroller when she was tired of carrying him. (We'd cover him with a blanket since it was cold)

He came home with us, got a bath in the washing machine, and except for the blue lollipop on his face, he's as good as new.

He will be going with us in October, that's for sure.
