Bringing own WC, then renting ECV at parks?

Here's the situation:

My Mom has major mobility issues and lots of health problems. I've convinced her to buy a light-weight travel type wheelchair for our upcoming Thanksgiving WDW and DCL trip. She's finally agreeded that having her own WC will be better for the airports, getting on the ship, etc. We are staying 2 nights pre-cruise at the Dolphin and I will rent her an ECV from an outside company for those 2 days that we need it. On the cruise she will be fine with the push chair since she can walk, just can't do stairs or walk for long periods of time.

Now - here's my issue. After the cruise we are staying at the Contemporary and doing MVMCP for night one and then EPCOT the next. My Mom is very, very stubborn (the fact she is going to get her own WC is a small miracle) and forgets how long some stretches are to walk, not to mention how hillly some places can be -- like the slope getting into MK. She wants to take the Monorail to both parks, walk to the park and then rent an ECV. I'm concerned that the walk to the monorail from our hotel room and the walk from the monorail to the ECV rental could be too much for her, especially if she is having a "bad" day instead of a "good" one.

Is it possible to bring our own WC to the parks, then rent an ECV from Disney? Would they store our WC for us? Have they done this before? OR Would it just be easier to rent an ECV for 2 days again from an outside company to avoid the hassle?

Thanks!

The Park Stroller/wheelchair/ECV Rental locations will tag and store a person wheelchair if the person is renting an ECV.

And if you are staying at the Contemporary, it really is not worthwhile (especially with the wheelchair) to take the monorail to MK. Yes, you take the elevator to the monorail which then stops at TTC, Poly, and GF before getting to MK and then there is the long ramp. But the walk from the Contemporary to the MK Bus Station is about the same distance as the walk from the MK Bus Station to the front gate.

Do you know if they'll store a transport chair if you're renting another wheelchair (instead of an ECV)?

We're driving to WDW and my mom's regular wheelchair is, well, massive. It was specially built for her during a time when she was almost completely immobile and the therapist said she'd never be more mobile than that. Now of course, she went to a different program where she's learned to walk (but it's difficult and she doesn't have much stamina but at least she can transfer and move around). We were planning on taking only her transport chair and then I was going to rent a regular wheelchair offsite for her to use in the parks, etc.

If the parks will store her transport chair, I'd just rent a wheelchair from them for the 3 days she plans on being in the parks. The transport chair is fine for the hotel and going shopping.

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I needed to know. As for the monorail I think before the Party we will be eating dinner at one of the monorail resorts, but I will remember just to walk back to the CR.
