We have our first Disney Vacation planned for March 1st.

3 adults, children ages 17, 12, 10, 9, 7 and 6 months.

When talking to a friend about our trip, he mentioned leaving the 6 month old home because of how hard it would be just with the older children and adding the 6 month old would make it very hard.

First, I couldn't imagine leaving our 6 month old with anyone for a week so we will be taking him and I will most likely be the one that stays with him and the other adults and 17 year old can handle the older kids.

I am not really a roller coaster/fast ride kind of person and will be completely content to ride on the slower rides that our baby can ride also.

If you have vacationed with a baby before, please give me worse case/best case scenarios.

Hi!
No need to worry at all! I took my 6 month old and then 3.5 year old to disney last year. It wasn't difficult in the least. He took naps in his stroller and went on many of the slower rides. He even slept through some of the shows.
Disney is very family friendly. Take a look at where the change stations are before you go or ask a cast member when you get there.
You'll have some pretty cute pictures too!

I'm with you...couldn't leave my baby at home. You want to have peace of mind when vacationing and all you would do is worry.

Take the little one with you and enjoy yourself! Take your time, stay on the same schedule if at all possible and don't forget you can ride switch at the Disney parks; just tell a cast member.

Enjoy your time! Together is always better.

We are taking our five and three year old and our six month old next month. I'm not worried in the least. I know she will sleep just fine in the ergo and stroller and she loves being held and looking at stuff..so being held most of the day and having tons to look at should make a pretty happy baby! I'm more worried about the car drive there! Have fun!

The car drive there definitely worries me. I hate that he will have to be completely strapped and not moving for that long. Hopefully we can occupy him so he doesn't get fussy.

He is a very easy going baby though. The only time you really hear him is if he needs his diaper changed (he absolutely hates being even the tiniest bit wet) or if he is hungry or sleepy. Any other time he is smiling and happy.

How long is your drive? We are going to try and do an overnight drive to knock a huge portion down. In my fantasy she will sleep most of the time. Haha yeah right!

Our drive is between 11-12 hours. We can't check in until 3PM so we don't want to leave too early and then be stuck without a room for hours.

We took our son at 6 months and it was a very easy, relaxing trip. He loved taking in all the sights and napping in his stroller. We had a great trip. Have fun!

Maybe I should be more concerned with the older kids driving me nuts instead of worrying about the baby who doesn't give me trouble at all....lol.

Probably! lol. I took my DD at 8.5 mo and she was easy. It was a great trip! Don't forget you can ride swap too if there are rides you want to go on with your other kids - you and DH can take turns and the kids can ride more than once!

We went when our little one was 4 months old and he was super easy! He slept, nursed or hung out in the carrier the whole time. The only "inconvenience" was having to stop to change his diaper...other than that it was a breeze. I think it's harder when they're mobile and wanting to walk around or terrible 2s...that's when it gets interesting, lol. Good luck!

We have take our kids at 4 and 8 months, 7 and 3, 8 and 4 and 9 and 5 and to be honest, that first trip was the easiest in a lot of ways.

Babies are just along for the ride and have no opinions. Much easier then the older mouthier kids.

I agree with the others. My wife and I brought our 6 month old with us along with our 2 year old and we had a blast. There were times he had his moments due to the crowds, but for the most part he did great. Even when he did start crying, others around us helped cheer him up. That's one of the joy's about being at Disney, no matter how old you are, you're still a kid at Disney :-)

We are going with our 5 month old. I really couldn't imagine a 'family' vacation when one child wasn't there. Our plans will be slightly different with the baby. I'm hoping a morning nap in the park, then afternoon nap at the hotel. Our older son (5) would have downtime/pool time then.

We brought our first child for a week at five months. Took our second for a day trip to MK at five months as well. As long as you just get over not riding the thrill rides, you will have a great time! It's the easiest age ever! I do recommend not starting solids until after the trip is over.

I have brought 2 children under the age of 2 to disney along with 2 children 5 and 8. We had no problems. they napped in the stroller. We were not there for us, we were there for the kids, We rode the family friendly rides that had no height requirements and took turns taking the older ones on the ones the little ones couldn't ride.

We took my youngest when she was 7 months old - it was so much easier than I thought it would be. She rode in the stroller, napped in the ergo - it was a great time. Utilize the babycare centers. If you're bottlefeeding, understand that they won't let you rock the baby and feed the baby in the nursing room (I didn't know that and was turned away and it was so upsetting). Do you have a baby carrier you like?

Disney World is so baby friendly, I wouldn't leave him at home either. We've been with a 3 month old, a 4 month old, a 13 month old, a 15 month old and an 18 month old. It's when they're 3 and 4 that it's challenging. :-)

Of all your children traveling the 6 month old will be the least of your worries! Took our niece when she was 6 months old!!! (Her parents were along also)

Pack a good comfy baby carrier (ergo, becco, wrap etc) and a stroller with recline & sunshade.

Baby can ride nearly everything with the family. Only a handful if height restricted rides in all of disney.

Take lots of pictures for a lifetime of memories!

This. We took our DD when she was 9 months old. She has been 3 more times since then. The first trip was by far the easiest. It will be the older children who cause you more issues. I agree I could never leave my baby at home on a trip to WDW no matter how young.
