Bringing my own paddleboard?

Hi there, I am a newb to the boards and to FW (but not to camping!). Just made reservations for part of spring break (just after Easter for us) for the campsites to tent camp. I own a paddleboard and wondered if it was allowed to take it out on the lake from the docks? I don't even know where I would ask and I don't want to bring it if we can't use it. I have life jackets for everyone and all that stuff.

Thanks! I can't wait!

The answer I have seen before from others is No personal watercraft on the lake or canals. Included kayaks, canoes, paddleboards.

Bummer! Thanks for the reply, though.

Well, actually, not a bummer, really! You can imagine how very busy, and potentially dangerous it could get if everyone were allowed their own personal water 'floaters'!! There are constant Disney boats coming and going at the docks, not to mention all the rentals they have there, would just be a disaster in the making!!! Would be impossible to regulate.

Almost like golf carts???

They could limit them to the internal waterways like the canoes they rent, and I doubt a very high number of people would bring their own boats anyway. More hassle than it is worth for a lot of prople traveling far distances.

At least we still get to bring and use our own bikes.

Yes, almost mentioned the carts in my post, LOL! When I almost get run over sometimes, makes me wonder 'when' Disney will prohibit all but their own rentals!! That would be a sure way to limit the 'number', then if they'd only enforce their own rules! Never been run down by a biker yet though! ;-) (haven't found the emoticons (?) on this new forum yet - I'm 'slightly' computer challenged ;-)!!!

You're right about the canals, but don't think that would be too exciting after awhile - 'would' be more hassle than worth it!!

I guess I figured if they rent canoes, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I board on a couple lakes in the atl area that have tons of traffic and we seem to figure it out. But no worries. Now I've just got to figure out a bike rack!

I agree, the little number of people that would be on the lake at a given time would normally not be an issue.

I suspect it is more liability and PR related. Funny, there is something about Disney that brings out the idiot in a lot of people. If a boat runs over a boarder at your local lake, it is a local story for a day. If a DISNEY boat hits the idiot boarder trying to get as close as they could, it is a national story for a week.

Then there is the "brain eating parasite" (myth) that lives in the lake. Maybe that explains the idiots coming out.

Oh right! I was so sad about River country...I am an 80s kid and have such good memories of the rope swing and all the other fun stuff. But I totally get the liability piece, sadly.
