We have an appointment with the vet at 10:30 this morning. He is lying here in my arms and I am so sad. :sad1: and guilty :guilty: .

:cat: Marley is a white cat just like this one. I named him Marley after the Ghost of Jacob Marley from A Christmas Carol.

You are doing the right thing even though it is very, very difficult. Marley will appreciate your helping him cross the Rainbow Bridge.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Awwww. It's so painful. I assure you--after going through this with 3 dogs--the worst part is the waiting and the trip to the vet. It is a horrible feeling.

Thanks, guys. That poem was very helpful Tigger Magic.

:grouphug: :grouphug: for you and Marley.........

I lost my 18year old Natasha a few weeks ago...

I did not take her to the vet for the "syringe" and even though it was a quick passing..I was so worried that she was in pain.....There is no good way to let go of our beloved furbabies...

You are doing the right thing....

:grouphug: :grouphug:

My heart goes out to you as I had to put my beloved Sandy to sleep in 2000. I held him all day and all the while we were at the vets. We then brought him home and he was laid to rest in a "kitty casket" as he was 21 and deserved more than a box. I still miss him and cry over him till this day.
 to you.

Tigger, that poem put me over the edge :sad1:

My heart and thoughts go out to you, I know how hard it is  Just don't forget, you're doing the right thing for him even though it is hard

Just know in your heart you are doing the best thing for Marley. I had to put my Greyhound to sleep last year. I know how you are feeling. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

:grouphug: I am so sorry. Marley will be in a better place.

My heart goes out to you. I just walked in your shoes Monday evening when we put our dog down. I am so very sorry.

There aren't enough hugs in the world right now, but here's one anyway. Marley will be playing with all the other cats over the Rainbow Bridge - lots of mice and birds there. :grouphug:

I've been there. It's one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do.
