Hi. I am bringing my full size fully collapsable stroller on our trip and we are primarily using it for a luggage rack, but also for the parks if the umbrellas style stroller is not comfortable enough for naps. So we would have two strollers to check at the gate. Has anyone ever had a problem with this? If we just bring the umbrella style stroller i don't even know how we would manage to hold 3 rolling carry on bags, 3 personal size bags, and a full size checked bag. It was so challenging to 2 rolling carry ons, 2 personal bags, 1 diaper bag, and 2 full size checked bags as we did on our first trip.. but we had to bring formal wear and a lot more baby food on that cruise trip. Then we managed to do only carry on for our last trip since we luckily had my dad to bring us a case of baby food items. This time we are going to bring one checked bag for her play yard and baby food. I'm considering trying to cram more in less space but if bringing the two strollers is allowed, then i may as well.
Our airline is air tran and Delta on the way back.
Thank you ;)

Disney rooms do offer a crib - so maybe you can do w/o the play yard?

Also can't you just do curbside check-in and ditch most of those bags right away?

How long are you going for?! I don't come close to that amount of luggage for my family of 7! Why babyfood? If you need groceries and snacks, have them delivered. We are cruising on Sunday, driving to the port, and everyone will get a carry-on sized piece of luggage to pack.

That's a lot of stuff. How old is she that you need that much?

I'm guess you could gate check both of them. Maybe call the airlines and ask.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff. Is there anything you can cut out? I can't imagine wanting to lug two strollers to Disney World. Am I reading right that the primary reason to bring the full sized one is just for luggage carrying through the airport? If that's the case, spend the few bucks for a porter or rental luggage cart.

I haven't flown with Z yet (she's almost a year and a half), but we've vacationed by car and I always bring more stuff than I need. It might be more expensive, but in future, I'll bring half of what I think I need and if I need to buy stuff, I'll buy stuff! Can you bring half the clothes, and do laundry halfway through your week? Have some baby items delivered? Mail yourself a package?

If your daughter is now 2, can't she eat what you eat? When we go out to eat, Z eats some of mine, or if I want something I know she won't eat, we'll order a side of something she loves. I keep some Cheerios and fruit cups in her diaper bag just in case, and always travel with a sippy cup.

I think you might want to rethink what you are bringing. 1 stroller should be fine. Hook your luggage together so it will roll together, or get a luggage cart. I'm all for being frugal (trust me...sometimes I'm downright cheap!) but sometimes it's worth it to spend a little more to make your life easier.

Personally, I'd go with the nice stroller and leave the umbrella at home. You get something that you can lug stuff around in and you're guaranteed she'd be able to nap in. The umbrella strollers are just so uncomfortable for little ones that I can't imagine them being happy being in them a good portion of the day, let alone trying to take a nap all hunched over with a bar at their legs.

Look into stopping at one of the grocery stores near Disney or check out mailing yourself a package. But I'd definitely try to cut down on the stuff you're lugging through the airport. If you have more luggage than you can bring on the stroller, I'd also rent one of the luggage carts. They're inexpensive. Plus, you might want to think about being able to quickly fold and store the stroller in a bag in preparation for putting on the plane. You'll have to check it, they won't let you bring that on the plane, so you want to make sure it's in a protected bag or something which will take time if you're using it to push all your luggage.

No way would I bring two strollers for one child. Just bring the one she can nap in.

I bought the Britax B-Agile stroller as our only stroller with WDW trips in mind...lightweight and easy to fold, but reclines nicely for naps when needed.

I would also probably do more checked luggage than all those carry ons--just sounds like a lot to be carrying/pulling all through the airport and security plus dealing with your DD. It would be worth paying the extra $$ to have a hand free.

I agree, just bring one! Also, i think that I would lose 1 carryon, check it instead, so that you get rid of more luggage right away.

Also, look into Garden Grocer or something like that for food if needed. It might cost more, but less hassle. Are you renting a car?

We traveled recently with our four kids. We arrived at the airport and my DH dropped me and the kids off curbside and we checked our luggage which was:
a car seat, two boosters, and three suitcases.

I was left with:
two backpacks, a stroller, another carry-on and my kids, ages 13,7,5 and 3.

The kids and I went through security with all the stuff while my DH parked the car. He didn't have anything with him so he breezed through security and caught up with us in only 3-4 minutes. He was super fast! I still can't figure out how he got there so fast. I ALAWAYS have at least one kid with me 24/7 that I guess I forgot how efficient one can be when they're alone, lol.

When we arrived at MCO, we were approached by an angel at the baggage carousel who loaded all of our gear onto a cart and pushed it all the way to the rental car place for us. Granted, it was his job, but we were extremely grateful! We gave him a $20. We would have looked like a band of sherpa's if we were left to carry all that stuff.

Same thing on the way back...the man with the cart was waiting for us at the drop off lane at the rental car place and he led us right to our counter.

I'd say bring one good stroller. We brought a crappy one one year for fear of losing our good one. We really regretted it. Pay the extra money for the angel cart guy and bring one stroller.

Btw, our stroller and car seat didn't count as a checked item.

we are not renting a car. i looked into the delivery stores but it costs the same to just have a checked bag and filled with a variety of foods that she is used to. She is 2 but had a late start accepting textures and lumps in the food, and only recently has she really been able to eat a full meal without it having baby food involved. She eats super slow and takes 1 hour to eat a meal of chewing foods/normal foods, which she is still accepting a limited variety.. not enough to 'eat off my plate.' So I want to bring her baby food as her main food and then let her also eat whatever she is willing to. I also wanted to bring juice boxes. I am having a case of water delivered.

I thought on our first trip with her that it is a very common thing to see people dealing with lots of luggage, so we'd figure it out. Wrong! It was very hard to try to get all the bags from the car lot to the bus, then from where the bus drops you off is a far walk to get to the terminal, then once we drop that checked bag off at the counter we would have it a little easier. I told Dh to make trips from our car at the car lot to the bus shelter but he insisted he could do it. This time we can try to get a space next to a bus shelter! Then the next step of where the bus drops you off is a VERY long walk to the terminal building. I did not see any luggage carts or any ports, it just you and all your bags. That is why the full size stroller worked well on our last trip... oh yeah.. on our first trip we were driving to the airport when we realized we left it behind. That trip with our DD1 was just fine without the stroller, we were glad we left it! well besides the luggage part of it. So on our next trip we remembered the stroller and used it for putting the luggage on rather than for DD1. It worked so much better than trying to drag all the bags at once. I am going to try to find out how you can attach bags so that they roll together.. genius idea.. i was picturing something like that but did know if it existed.. but what doesn't these days. Anyway, the full size stroller we have it a gorgeous Disney Princess one, but the flaw is that it steers terribly..which is why i wanted to bring the umbrella style stroller "THE FIRST YEARS IGNITE STROLLER" which does recline the same as the full size, but the full size has more leg room. I would just take the full size one but the ste

I would just take the full size one but the steering is so bad. It is so frustrating to get it to turn how you need it to. The Ignite stroller is SO much better, but there is no way to use it to help with the luggage.

We did buy a luggage cart for the $5 on our first trip but it was barely of any help. We could not get the bags to stack and stay, it was more trouble than it was worth. After our cruise we saw porters and got one to help us with our bags.. yes that is perfect.

A shirt for each day, 3 shorts, socks/underwear and flip flops filled DH's carry-on bag. My carry-on is 1/2 full with the same things but i still need to pack in diapers. DD2's rolling carry on is full with her clothes, and spare clothes, diapers, wipes, table toppers, potty books.. so condensing into just two wouldn't work. Then our 3 personal items are my disney purse (large travel one), DD2's is filled with her carry on baby food and snacks and dvd player, and the 3rd one is the carry on diaper bag. The checked bag is juice, baby food, sunblock, play yard frame.. i am having the play yard mattress shipped to our resort but i would rest easier using my own. That is our bags.
We are going for the week and staying on site. I could rent a stroller but that is a lot of money, so i would just like to know if we can bring two and check them at the gate or will they tell us no, only one. I will call the airline and ask them, just thought someone with actual experience would be of help.
:rolleyes1

GUESS WHAT! I feel SO dumb.. ok so when i first got my disney rolling luggage i was wondering why they put a strap near the top which didn't seem to do anything.. fast forward about 8 years.. we have lots of bags and can't seem to manage them.. someone mentions a luggage strap.. hmmm i thought that there may be a way of doing such a thing.. so i google and watch a video and find out that may solve our problem.. so then i am looking to buy a luggage strap when I realize our bags have some seemingly useless strap thingy like what they show.. so i go and check and sure enough it has a built in luggage strap!! So problem solved.. no need to use a stroller to haul the luggage we will strap it together. I feel SO dumb.. but hey if i never asked, i'd have never known, and so now i do! Hooray!

OP, glad you found a solution! I think bringing 2 strollers would have been a huge hassle. When travelling with children and packing all their stuff, "less is more." I learned this the hard way.

We had the Ignite stroller and loved it for WDW trips.

Also many airlines don't allow bringing full size strollers up to the gate just umbrella style strollers so if you are thinking of bringing only the full size you may have to check it with your luggage.

Actually only American currently limits the size of the stroller you can gate check.

the full size we have brought on our last trip.. as long as it is fully collapsible and under a certain weight it is ok.

Why not ship down the food as well?
It might cost a little, but would free up space in your checked bag.

When using Magical Express I try to put as much as I can in the checked bag since I won't be dealing with them at the airport. I only put a change of clothes for everyone and bathing suits in the carry on so we have less to deal with in the airport.

Last year we had to checked luggage and 1 rolling carryon which we attached the car seat to, no stroller (we rented one from one of the offsites) and we each had a bag (DH, myself and DS who was 6).
