Can I bring a sealed container of juice on board? You know the individual bottles that sell in cases of 6. Just wondering if that is still a no-no. I know DS gets tummy aches unless it is pear juice, and I am sure they will not have that on board!

How old is he? You may get away with bringing it through security if he is very young but otherwise they will not allow it.

You can bring on board anything that you buy in the terminal (after going through security) but I doubt you'll find pear juice.

Are there other things that he can drink - water, perhaps? Milk?

If you have an infant or toddler you may be able to (not sure how old your son is). They have let me through security with water/drinks for the baby. I'm not sure if that's official, or not, though.

He is 4 months old! I guess I could breastfeed if I can't bring it on board. I am just a bit shy about nursing in public, but the baby's gotta eat!;) Our flights are fairly short, so maybe I can get him good and full before we take off!

The official rule is still 3 oz or less in a quart sized ziplock.

I would get a bunch of 3 oz bottles (or smaller) and put them into the ziplock (I would imagine you can fit 5 or 6 ?) . Also carry an additional bottle through, but don't be surprised if they confiscate it. Through a few extra bottles in checked luggage and do the same thing in reverse when returning home.

OK...I looked it up on th TSA website....yes, you can bring juice for an infant or toddler without worrying about the 3oz limit.

THANK YOU so much! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to answer me!:grouphug:

Go to the TSA's website, print off this page, and bring it with you on your flights: http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/311/index.shtm

Here is the language about juice:

Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.

I'm sure that arguments about "reasonable quantities" can arise, but you sound like a reasonable person! Good luck.

There's a lot of good advice for breastfeeding moms on airplanes on this thread:

just thought you might have missed it. :)

As a frequent flier I have to chime in and second Sandi's advice to print out the info from the TSA page in case you get a TSA agent that is still only allowing formua or breastmilk. IIRC the addition to allow juice for babies just came about in August and I am still seeing the TSA agents make parents discard juice. In fact if you didn't specificly need pear juice I would avise you to not bring it and by juice after security. You may also have better luck if the juice is in a baby bottle rather than the original container.

Since he needs this specific juice (pear) due to tummy issues, you may even get anote from his ped saying this is what he needs. DS and I had to fly last year for him to have surgery in another state. At the time, he was on a liquids only diet and had to have Pediasure 4 times a day. His ped wrote a note explaining that he needed to have the Pediasure during the flight- we gave them the note and check-in and never had a problem. And, this was before the 3 oz. rule went into effect- when they were still disallowing liquids. Good luck! I'm sure it will be fine! :thumbsup2

Way to go Sandi! This is exactly what I was going to say and and dont let ANYONE give you and crap about it! We fly all the time with out now 2 year old he has been flying since he was 6 weeks old. I have had one TSA person yap about the juice we had in our bag. Upon asking for a supervisor he soon changed his mind and let us through. I usually bring 4 juice "jars" on as well as a bottle of water, since we cut the juice, if I have room. Also you can bring his liquid meds on, even non-prescript. ones in more then 3 oz bottles. As for delcaring the juice, to be honest I fly a lot alone with him and it about all I can do at times to get him, the car seat, the stroller, the carry on bags and myself through so I don't usually take it out of the bag, the screener can see that I am carrying a baby and can see it is juice so they let it pass. To be nice I can see taking it out, but dont bust your butt trying to struggle especially if you are traveling alone!
You can also look for some great advice at www.flyertalk.com there are a ton of posts about flying with children and most people are well seasoned flyers. It might suprise you to know what you can and can't do as well as what some of your rights are. Like no you do not have to remove all your jewelry, I go through with two rings, a watch, bracelets, necklace, earrings, and a kid who almost always is full of snaps and hooks that are metal and I never set the machine off. Making poor Granny take off her wedding band is just crazy!
Great luck on your flight!
