Will it be okay if I brought food into the park? I saw that some people did this when I was there last. I have 2 children that have protein problems. One is a preliminary diabetic. I do know that they sell protein packs inside the parks but sometimes it is a little to late to get there or we throwed lots of it away. I am thinking maybe I can bring in a small cooler. What are your suggestions?

For sure, you can. In December, we brought in sandwiches, fruit, etc. They were in the top part of the stroller too, in clear view.

I did hear of a family bringing in a bucket of fried chicken and the whole meal. I don't know if I'd go that far!

We bring in food everytime we go. We bring in crackers, Uncrustables, fruit snacks, water bottles, soda (in bottles), etc. We have never had a problem. As long as you aren't trying to bring in a huge rolling cooler or boxes of pizza, I think you will be ok. :goodvibes

I did watch a CM tell a family that they could bring in their of kfc and another with a chinese food dinner when we were going back in DLR after dinner. Both family went over to a bench and chowed down.

I think that is a bit much with bending the rules.

Like the others said, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you're not trying to bring in a giant cooler or something. We bring in food all the time for DS because he has to have special formula (looks like a juice box though) and he can only eat pureed food which is hard to find at DLR. If any of the CMs give you a hard time just explain to them about your childrens' medical issues but I'm sure no one will say anything to you.

I know that if you have your food in your stroller and it's all children friendly they wont say anything. If they do say something then tell them that your children have medical issues. I am sure they will have no problem with it after that. We have no medical issues and we brought in a whole stroller load of snacks, lunch and drinks! Even Pepsi!! LOL!! : )

FWIW, I almost always bring in my own food because I can't eat wheat or sugar and am a vegetarian (doesn't leave many options at DL). I've always carried food in a backpack (which I later place in a locker). Only one time did they hassle me about it. We were carrying grocery-sized paper bags with our lunches and the guy at the inspection table turned us back saying (nicely and politely -- I've never had anything less at DL) that they didn't want people "having picnics" in DL. I didn't tell him about my dietary restrictions (don't recall why I didn't but that may have changed his attitude). We split the contents into two bags and then entered by different inspectors with no problem.

Like others have posted...we never have any issues with bringing in food or drinks.

As long as you don't put it in GLASS containers, you will be fine.

We bring in water, juice, sandwiches, fruit, protein bars, crackers almost every trip.

jUst last week I saw a family with subway. we bring in a soft sided cooler every time and security looks thru it, but never says anything. I have never had a problem in over 15 years of going to DL. Not once. You will be totally fine!

The best thing you can do is have small, soft-sided coolers. We got ours at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks and my boyfriend and I each brought our entire day's worth of food with no problem. Since we don't mind walking everywhere, we kept the coolers in a large locker and took non-perishables like cheese sticks and beef jerky and nuts with us for snacks (my boyfriend is insulin resistant, so we try to only eat a treat or two when we're in the parks).

I hope you guys have a great time!

My family always brings our own food in too. Last time we had my grandma w/ us and she needed a cool place to sit so we got a table in the ice cream shop and made our lunch right there. Usually we try not to be so obvious but no one said anything. We were making full deli sandwiches too. We bring in lots of snacks also.

The only time I saw some one turned away was when they brought in a grocery bag with a loaf of bread etc. to make sandwiches.. Don't be so obvious and they wont care.. Taco bell in a soft sided cooler.. Works great it stays hot and everything!

We always bring our own snacks: goldfish, candy, trail mix, beef jerky and of course our own water and Coke zero. The prices of drinks are outrageous so we go to Walmart and get a six pack of water or coke for the same price as ONE bottle in the park! :scared1:
