Bringing in food

By any chance are you a camper? Perhaps you could bring in a little camp stove to heat up the chicken and any side dishes you bring along. Don't forget the pots & pans, plates, unsharpened utensils, and Tupperware for the leftovers.

Perhaps some dish soap too so you can do the dishes in a restroom after eating. It wouldn't be much fun carrying a bunch of dirty dishes around the park. :)

I was thinking of bringing one of those 6' long subs into MK along with a cake to celebrate DD's birthday in October... and of course matches to light the candles ;)

I'll bring 5lbs of potato and macaroni salad. :rotfl:

Wait whose bringing the beer!

Don't forget your crock pot so you can turn any leftovers into soup for the next day :thumbsup2

cold chicken is not a problem, but cold gravy? yuck. a thermos would be a good idea so you can keep it hot. a stove also might not be needed depending on when you go. i heard it gets so hot down there in the summer, you can fry an egg on main street!

Hey you mean we can have breakfast too! Who needs a dinning plan when you can have fried eggs for breakfast and fried chicken for lunch and have leftovers for dinner.

I'm sure Disney wouldn't mind if people brought in their own food and used the outdoor kitchen at the Swiss Family Treehouse. Isn't that why it's there?

Forget the plastic knife! Just go to the nearest counter service and pick up all your utensils and condiments! Make a salad from the toppings bar while you are at it for a side dish! Disney leaves these items out and unguarded so they must be free for the taking!

I know this is a joke, but I just got back from Disney 2 days ago and I saw people with like 3 bags of Taco Bell in Magic Kingdom and another person eating a cup of soup...where did they even get the hot water fro that??

Since WDW apparently lets you bring in almost any foods we are thinking about bringing in a bucket of chicken from KFC. Also we have a couple of whole pies. Will they let us bring in a plastic knife to cut the pies once we find a nice place in the MK to lay our blanket out?

You can take in food but to spread out a blanket not a place to do that. but when you go into MK go up Main street and past the shops and on left will be Caseys Corner --at that point take a right and go down the slope walkway and there will be tables with yellow and white umbrellas down there you could eat and not be a problem. it was a smoking section as of May 2011 is the only thing. but is large outside area so should not be a problem. is down by a canal as well with ducks/cranes etc:surfweb:

Could get hot water from restrooms or get water and use a counters microwave. I personally like to eat in all the different places while on vacation and not mess with carry out as do that enough at home:surfweb:

Before Disney had the dining plan.... the olden days. There was no Magical Express so we would have a rental car. Dh would go pick up Subway sandwiches for lunch for him and me. We would buy the kids meal at Disney counter service. (We still have many of the sparkly kids pencil boxes they came in)for my ds and we would chow down on sandwiches.
Then there was the year of the power bars for lunch. This was to save money for nice table service dinners. The counter service meals were pretty tasteless and pricey at the parks.
To this day my ds and I cannot eat a power bar.
When they introduced the dining plan... it was like we had gone to heaven.... no longer perusing the menu for what was the cheapest.
If Disney stops Free dining ..... we may just start bringing in sandwiches again.
But Power bars... never again.

If you really want to save money, by-pass KFC & take an electric skillet & fry up your own chicken. If you take it from home, you can put ice in the tub & keep it cold til you are ready to fry it! :thumbsup2

I think the self-service drink stations have hot water for tea/coaco.

Not to be mean but I really hope you are kidding about the chicken........
I mean are you kidding?
I brought/am bringing in snacks like oreos and stuff but chicken? Really?
Do people really go that extravagant?:confused3

I know this is a joke but a few years ago my daughter was working at Mission Space and someone had taken a blanket across the way where it is grassy and had a complete fried chicken picnic going on. The CMs thought it was pretty funny. I believe it was during Christmas week.

Why should the OP be kidding? My family honestly brings cold fried chicken and cold veggies (carrots and celery) with us for lunch or dinner on occasion. We keep it on frozen water and gatorade in our softsided backpack cooler. My DD (9) gets tired of constantly having chicken nuggets and applesauce for every meal. We also bring fruit and cookies, granola bars and other snacks. We have never had a problem bringing anything in at bag check.

I have several food allergies and I prefer to bring the majority of my food with me just to be safe.

It also saves a ton of money and this is the budget boards isn't it?

I think bringing chicken from home (e.g., if you live nearby or are cooking it in your condo) makes perfect sense - delicious, economical, healthy, and easy to pack in a soft side cooler. I would do it myself once in a while if I had kitchen access.

On the other hand, stopping at KFC, then driving to the park, parking, monorailing, and showing up with a bucket? That's a bit much. You're not saving much money (vs. counter service), it's certainly not healthy, and it's going to be cold (but not in a good way) by the time you get a chance to eat it. And for me personally, my time is worth money, so factoring in a trip to the Colonel when I could instead be at the MK? A no brainer. Big waste of my precious vacation time!

how about wheeling in a keg ? you're going to need something to wash the chicken and pie down ..... :thumbsup2

Or just do pizza delivery and have them meet you at the front entrance....:rotfl2:
