Random question.... can I bring in a small cookie cake to Blue Bayou for my daughter’s birthday? There is a Mrs. Fields in Santa Ana, and the only cake she likes is cookie cake. She’s not a big sweets person.... not sure how that happened given she’s my child, but 💁‍♀.

Not a huge problem if we can’t. Just thought I’d ask!

I don't think they'll let you. Any food brought in has to be an individual serving size, not a whole cake.

They have 9” heart shaped cakes..... they’re
Much smaller. I wonder if that would pass.....

Yes, you should be able to. I've seen other cakes brought in.

I think you're asking 2 questions. First can you bring it into the park, the answer is probably as they do let outside food in the park. Second question is taking it in and eating it in the restaurant, that is where I would question if you can do that. I'm doubtful about that part. You might call the reservation number and see if somebody there knows, (714) 781-3463.

I don't know if it has to be individual serving size, but the gist has always been (even when bringing in your own food was an unofficial policy that wasn't the official policy) that if it takes reheating or special preparation (like separate sandwich ingredients rather than premade) that they won't allow it. I've seen large bags of chips.

Certainly something like a large cake in a box or a large cookie that would need to be cut wouldn't be allowed in, or at least wouldn't normally be allowed in.

But one can buy a cake at Disneyland.

Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes
  • Order a fun and festive cake in the shape of Mickey Mouse!

  • Size: One cake feeds 4 to 6 Guests
  • Price: $45 per cake, plus tax and gratuities where applicable (pricing subject to change); the cake will be added to your restaurant bill, and charged at the conclusion of the meal
You can add a Mickey Mouse celebration cake to your future reservation when you book online at least 3 days in advance of the reservation. Or, order in-person at the restaurant’s host podium, or at the Concierge Desk at your Disney Resort hotel. Requests for same-day cakes must be made in person upon arrival at the restaurant.

I know I mentioned the special cake, but I have the feeling if you're clearly bringing in outside food to Blue Bayou they're going to stop it. You might be able to get it past security if you tell them you're taking it to the picnic area. It might be obvious if you try taking it past the turnstile entrance.

From DL website. I really think it will be up to who ever you get at security and then again at the gate and at the restaurant. Why not just tell the restaurant its her bday. They will bring her a small cupcake with a candle and sing happy birthday. You can save the cake for the hotel or outside the park.

Q.
Can I bring outside food and beverages into Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park?
A.
Guests are allowed to bring outside food and nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for self-consumption, provided they are not in glass containers, do not require heating, reheating, processing or refrigeration and do not have pungent odors. Inform a Security Cast Member of any food items when you enter the park.
You may also enjoy your own food and nonalcoholic beverages in an ideal setting at the complimentary picnic area—conveniently located outside the Main Entrance to Disneyland Park.

I don't see any reason why you can't bring it into the park. My SIL brought a cooler bag with sandwiches, chips and drinks for all 10 of us when she was alone and they didn't question it. The question is whether BB will allow you fo serve your cake (which is really a giant cookie, right?) at their restaurant. My gut says no, but I don't actually know.

If they know it's your daughters birthday they usually throw in a special dessert for free. I did the Teat at Steakhouse 55 one year on my birthday and I got a little mickey Mouse Mousse cake that said happy birthday.
it was super rich and could easily be shared with 4 people even though it was really small. It was about 2 times the size of a DL cupcake

Thanks but my child won’t eat this.... she’s not big on sweets. Cookie cake is her favorite! We bring in lunches, sodas, fruit in containers etc. etc. and it’s always been allowed so I don’t think they’ll say anything about a very small cookie cake. I’ve also seen people bring in entire pizzas from Costco so I don’t know!!!!

Could you just get individual cookies at Mrs. Fields instead of a whole cake? I know it doesn't taste exactly like a cookie cake, but it is more portable and less noticeable to security. Or you could bring the cake (as long as you can get through security with it) and eat it outside of BB so that you don't risk running into a problem there. And Happy Birthday to your DD!

Yes, I don’t think getting a small 9” cookies cake through security is the problem. It’s serving it at Blue Bayou. We are also checking out this day, otherwise we’d just do cake in the hotel. We may just do Birthday cake in the room a day early and just enjoy lunch at Blue Bayou and if they bring her a free dessert we could sing again even if she won’t eat the desert. The rest of us can. Ha! She’s just not a sweets person and cookie cake is her jam!

These are great ideas too! Thanks for the suggestions. And thanks for the birthday wishes!!!!!

Or get the cookie cake and cut it up into individual slices before entering the park (put them in ziplocks or plastic containers). Then it is easier to transport and garners less attention from anyone who might think to care about what you are bringing in.

This is super helpful and I think we are just going to do that! Do cookie cake the day before at the hotel and sing again at the restaurant if they bring her a small cupcake! We check out on her birthday, otherwise we would’ve just had cake back in the room after lunch.

Sure. Even back when the official policy was "no outside food" I never had a problem bringing in entire bags from McDonald's and even drink cups. But everything seems to point to anything that just sticks out saying "outside food" isn't supposed to be OK. I'm kind of surprised about a pizza box, although I'm thinking someone going to Napolita isn't going to have a problem bringing in one of their small boxes into the parks.

But again - there is the picnic area and certainly it shouldn't be a problem in Downtown Disney.
