2015 2126 & 2128

Thanks - Looks like we are on the same deck as well. (#2138).

DH was so preoccupied last night with the possibility of getting on the cruise that he could not sleep - now it's my turn - no sleep for me - the to do list is huge...

I still have a three day conference, my dd's birthday party on Sunday, haircuts, pedicures and oh yeah -PACKING

Denise

OK we (me and rikimuk) are arriving on the 17th and I believe that we are staying at the Renaissance at the airport but I've asked Lindsay the name around 100 times and keep getting it wrong.

Still no docs for us yet - but they do need to travel across the pond.....

It takes a while to put those floating arm things on the brown trucks!:rotfl2:

Seriously, I hope you get your docs soon.

I'd love to panic. We spent the last 10 months planning. I got some work done on Pirate costumes. Then Buddy was hospitalized and we weren't going to go. I stopped working on the costumes. Now we are going to go. We had to book airfare just last week. I am scrambling to finish the costumes and door magnets. I was needing to pack for 3 weeks and two climates. Now I need to pack for two weeks. Buddy wants to take his space-hogging, but helpful, mobility scooter. If we take the scooter, we may still need to arrage for a wheel chair for excursions. We are having a hard time arranging for medical needs. Etc Etc....

At this point, I just want to board the ship. I saved all my vacation days for this trip and haven't had a day off since our last cruise last September. I need a vacation, badly. Once I'm on board, I know I will just adapt to the circumstances and have a relaxing vacation.:cool1:

Thanks for letting me vent DISSERs! Everybody who needs a vacation say "Aye!"

Do I actually need my Docs?

We have arranged our own air and have done a lot of the check in online?

Yeah we got ours Thursday, Friday and Monday in Wales so I reckon they should be with you this week. UPS delivers them so you have to sign for them.

I posted this last year when I got my docs for my first DCL Cruise. Last year the Docs came in a white mylar envelope. It was so hard to open compared to this year's cardboard envelope.

After I posted this last year, many DISSERS took great joy in informing me that thare was a little tab on the packet that I could have pulled for easy opening......:lmao:

Thank Goodness the DISers told me what to do!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I got home from work today, there amongst all my eBay packages was a white plastic, bubble wrap-insulated envelope with a return address of Disney Cruise Line. I was hoping it was the much mentioned DOCs, but how could I be sure? I, too, tried ripping the parcel open with my bare hands and was met with no success and plenty of frustration.

I sat and I pondered, then I remembered, "I HAVE TO DO THE DOC DANCE!"

There's a reason I live alone, for anyone witnessing the strange hip gyrations and hand waving may have thought I was really in need of medical attention (not to mention psychiatric care), but I did the dance. Yes, fellow DISers, I did the dance.

Once again I tried to liberate the wondrous contents from their plastic prison. Once again I met with no success.

I sat and I pondered, then I remembered, "SOMEONE POSTED SOMETHING ABOUT SCISSORS!"

Furiously I scoured my dining room table (also known as the Black Hole of Pennsylvania- objects check in, but they don't check out), eyed the scissors, and carefully, carefully, to avoid cutting the material inside, but mostly to avoid having any accident that trip insurance might not cover, I snipped open the parcel.

Joy of joy, there they were.

You do need your docs. They have the Bahaman immigration form in there that you will need and the terms and conditions of the cruise which you are meant to read before you sign your cruise docs. It also has the finalised itinerary (although this does sometimes change). Most importantly it has in it your bag tags which will ensure your bags get to your cabin on the boat. Although you can pick up blank ones at the port these are the ones with your actual room number on and name so are the safest ones to put on your cases as last time we used the ones at the port it took them ages to get our bags to our rooms (they probably leave the ones that arent colour co-ordinated until last as its easier to identify where the others are going).

Anyway I reckon theyll be with you in next few days so no need to worry

There is a ticket booklet enclosed that you will need to check in at the port. And luggage identifiers that Cast members will need to get your luggage to your stateroom.

You have plenty of time to get them and I'm sure that Disney has procedures for those who don't get them before they depart.:wizard:

LOL :rotfl2: This has just brightened my day! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has problems with these stupid envelopes! For the first time last night I actually managed to get one open first time!

Yep youre right they do. We didn't get ours last year and had to just pick them up at the port. They were there in a little package at one of the desks and we just had to fill in the immigration forms there. That was when we had to use the plain luggage labels. Whereas the ones in the pack are colour coded to identify which area of the boat you are on the ones at the port just had a space for you to write your details in and were white.

I'm assuming procedures in Barcelona will be the same as those in Port Canaveral

My dd(9) and I (Dad) are 1st timers and have questions about claiming luggage. We fly out of Dayton OH on the 17th to Atlanta then from Atlanta to Barcelona arriving the morning of the 18th. Do we claim our luggage in Atlanta or is it automatically forwarded to the next plane? I assume we claim our luggage in Barcelona. Please let us know the procedures. We have never flown before. We have Disney Air & transfers. Thanks for your replies in advance. Can't believe we are less than 2 weeks away.

Not sure how much help this is but last time I flew via somewhere within the US we didn't have to claim our luggage. This was however before Sept 11th so dont know if this has now changed. Hopefully someone else can help

As long as you are on the same airline when you check in for your flight in Dayton your bags will be checked all the way to Barcelona, so you will not see your bags until you get to Barcelona:goodvibes .

Panic over.

All our stuff just arrived....

YEAH Thought they would! Lucky really it was delivered by UPS and not Royal Mail with all these strike days. Only found out yesterday that there was a strike last Thursday and I didn't even realise! Wondered why we didn't have any post.

You don't need to be on the same airline for both flights. When you check in for your first flight request that they check your luggage all the way through. Sometimes they will ask but I usually just request as soon as the luggage check in begins.
