On the Medhead cruise a wise man (Also!!) shared his wisdom as far as perfect Coke Floats goes (since we are talking about ice cream)--do the coke FIRST, then add the ice cream --no overflow! This only works on the Magic and Wonder of course I never got to try this piece of advice before, so am looking forward to doing so now

Hi Dee, we usually take visitors to john's pizzeria on west 44th. patsy's is also good.

for delicatessens i know katz is good but not in a great area. we've been to ben's a couple of times....west side, upper 30ths i think.

I agree with Ellen -- John's pizzeria on W. 44th is my favorite -- we were just there recently. If you're on the upper west side, Pizza Bolla on Amsterdam at 92nd is great, too. I'm not a big deli person, but I usually take people to Carnegie Deli (about 7th ave and 55th) if they are visiting and want a big pastrami on rye or something . . . I've heard Katz's is good but have never been!

Also, don't make the same mistake I did. I didn't buy anything for myself from this shop, Vienna Linens 236 Main Street and have been kicking myself ever since. If you are interested in a few of their wares

OMG, fabric mecca!! I have GOT to find this store!!

If you are into fabric, there is a fabric store there too, and some of the rolls they had were, oh my gosh! That was on the water side of Main Street, but the door was not on Main Street but on a side street. I think around John Mackintosh Square, but don't hold me too it. There were a few other linens stores but they stocked more what I would call English linens.

The other store I fell in love with was Pashmina at 296 Main Street, I did go back for the 45 pound handmade scrapbook which is why I didn't buy the things I wanted from that linen store. However, I have email for the linens place, and I am contemplating seeing if they will ship internationally if I send them my pictures with what I want circled.

There is also a stitchery store on Bell Road in Gibraltar, and one in Cadiz at San Franciso, 29 (You can tell where I bought stuff, because they had their addresses printed on their bags).

Thats me too, love all the needlework! Hopemax, you should start your own tour business! I would love to go on a needlework, fabric, linen tour. Unfortunately, my dh would rather do the "home depot" tour.

Our taxi picked us up at our hotel about 11 and took us over to the ship. By the time we got there and unloaded say it was 11:30. There were about 200 families or more there by that time. They were just sitting in the waiting area though. We were concierge so we got to board first, roughly about noon.

Oh, that's not good. Our train gets in about 8:30am I think. That's going to be a lot of waiting around.

I just checked the main board - someone asked this same question - seems like the earliest people got on was noon - 12:30.
Maybe, we should see if our taxi/shuttlel would give us a short tour on the way or stop at a shop - like to pick up some wine!

Another thought on this--I don't remember there being anywhere to buy food in the terminal--Gift shops yes, dont remember about food and drinks. Maybe one of the first transatlantic people would remember?

Is there anywhere at the terminal where we could leave our luggage - leave - then come back to check in?
