Bringing food into the rooms

Are cruisers allowed to bring food from the buffet or the restaurants into the room? I'm talking a meal here, not just a banana. Will the restaurants make up a lunch tray so I can eat lunch in my room?

The reason is because my DD(2) need to take daily naps at about 1 pm. She will be fine for the activity part of the clubs, but napping in unfamiliar places requires a parent. I figure this is the perfect time for a nice quiet lunch.

I saw the room service menus and the restaurant lunch menus. Needless to say, the restaurants have a much more interesting menu.

Will DCL accomodate me? Can I bring a tray to my room from the buffet or the restaurant?

We brought food from the buffet into our room and sat on our verandah and ate it. Our room steward was nice enough to take away the dishes even though we told he we'd return them ourselves. He didn't seem to convey that it was a problem that we brought food from Beach Blanket to our room. We never tried this from any of the restaurants though.

I took a tray of food back for breakfast & no one said anything. Saw many people carrying trays to their rooms.

You most certainly can bring a full lunch tray back to your room with you!!!! You can even bring food to the movie theatre if you wanted to, to enjoy while watching a movie!!!!

DCL has no problem at all with that. Some posters have even said that if they were feeling under the weather and did not make it to dinner...if their servers found out they would bring dinner from the restaurants to their room for them to eat!!!

A nice quiet lunch with your child in your cabin sounds wonderful!!!!

Yes, you can. I brought a full breakfast down to my sleeping family most mornings from Topsiders.

And we were quarantined on our 1/03 cruise. We just picked what we wanted off the menu, and they brought it to our room. Man, was there a lot of dishes!!!

It's probably a little more complicated from the sit down restaurants, but if you ask them, the servers will bend over backwards to help you.

I can attest to them bringing food to the room. When we were on the May 8 Western my MIL was feeling sick so she went back to the room and our assist. server brought hot tea to their room.

It was dinner, not lunch, but our servers prepared a dessert tray to go with absolutely no hesitation.

We took trays of breakfast food to eat on the verandah in the mornings! For lunch if my daughter was needing a nap I would let her sleep in the stroller and just bring her to the restaurant with her sleeping and we enjoyed a nice quiet lunch wiht her out cold! Did the same for the deck parties!

On our first day on the ship - lunch as a matter of fact - one of the servers told us to make ourselves at home. She said, "This ship is your home while onboard. Take your tray where you please and we will find it and clean it up - you are on vacation!" That said it all for me right there - I was in HEAVEN! So - enjoy those quiet lunches while your DD snoozes away

Plus I never thought about getting food for breakfast and bringing it back to the room. This board is chock full of fabulous ideas!
