I know the rule is no outside food and drink, but my wife and I swear we took snacks like granola bars and bottled water in before. Is our memory mistaken or is the rule not rigidly enforced for small items?

You are not barred from bringing snacks (energy bars, granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, etc.) and water bottles into the park. A lot of people bring them in back packs and so forth. You cannot bring coolers into the parks and copious amounts of food for picnic type meals.

I always take at least one bottle of water and I have never been stopped for it.
They hardly check bags anyway, they just sorta poke around with a stick for a second and then wave you on. I'm absolutely sure you could put granola bars in a makeup bag or something inside a little backpack and they wouldn't ever know. Haha or just stash them in your pockets.

Got it! and thanks!popcorn::

you can take anything no glass collers just not hard sidede coolers. some take fome coolers were gona take a soft sided one

We got stopped for bringing in a breakfast sandwich from McD's. We offered to throw it away, but they escorted my DM (who was eating it at the time) over to a small picnic area. The same security person let me by with a bunch of granola bars in my bag right before DM, so it would be interesting to know the official policy.

ok things i brang in
chesse and crackers for my son oatmil bars. teddy grams, chease sticks apples,i wouldnt brang in whole meals. im gona have pepsi and water

I have brought everything from a single bottle of water to a soft sided cooler with picnic meals in it for my dd (now 7) and I. We have never been stopped. Granted everything was in plastic (no class), was only for myself and dd, and was all home made. We regularly rent a locker and store our lunch and dinner in there. We just stop by the locker when we want to eat.

If they did not let us bring this in our frequency of visits would dramitcally go down. We go several times per month and usually bring food with us. I could never afford to eat there for all those meals. Only on special occasions we will eat at one of the resturants.

When they checked our backback we had four water bottles right there that they saw everytime and never said a word.

I think they would frown upon you trying to bring in any prepared food purchased from a McDonalds (Egg McMuffins, Happy Meals) or Subway. That makes sense. If you bring some PB&Js in ziplock bags made from home, they're not going to take it away. Worse case scenario, they would ask you to put any food that you bring it the lockers outside the entrance.

What about kinds w/ severe allergies? DD has Celiac disease and we were planning on bringing quite a bit for her...

LOL, we had about 6 waters and scads of granola bars in the bottom of the stroller, they peeked in and waved us through. Them caring about such things happens very infrequently.

Just don't try to bring in a Starbucks Frappucino-in-a-bottle, though, that glass won't be allowed through!

(but I've heard that baby food jars and glass baby bottles are OK)

Last year there was a picture someone took of a family with a full KFC meal, sitting INSIDE DCA, just eating away at the tables! That CM didn't much care, either. :rotfl:

My DF met up with us at DL on Monday. She packed about 20 ham and cheese sandwiches, 10 water bottles, and 10 bags of snack size chips in a soft sided cooler. She also had a snack bag of granola bars, teddy grahams, and trail mix bags for all 10 of us. They did not tell her anything at all. We tried to get the cooler into one of the lockers on Main Street, but it did not fit, so we just emptied the contents into the locker and took the cooler with us on the rides. Again no one said anything about it.

 Even if they tried to hide it, it's not like you can't smell KFC from a mile away! Just goes to show, you never know!

where did you get the soft side cooler? Im keeping my eyes open but cant find one

I got mine years ago from target. We only use it when going to DL or WDW. It is easier to get into the lockers.

JadeDarkStar, she got the cooler at Wal-Mart for about $15. It has a hard plastic shell inside which you can just take out. It is foldable w/o the inside shell. It has side pockets, a zipper that opens the top, and another small zipper that opens the top if you want to get your hand in for something that way you don't have to open the big zipper around it. It also has a long strap to hang off your shoulder.

It must depend on the person working the security.

My BIL brought in two bags of McD's egg mcmuffins & breakfast foods. He went through security and through the Disneyland gates without a word. He and my sister & their kids ate their McD's breakfast on main street (this was in May of this year).

We always bring in a soft sided cooler filled with cans of soda & ice, and a bag with food in it. Things like PB&J, chips, snacks etc. They told us we could bring in anything....just not glass containers and no alcohol.

The official word, that I have cut-and-paste from Disney’s web site, seems pretty clear. The issues seem to come from the complete lack of consistency in enforcement. I personally think that bringing in a small amount of snacks and water should be permitted but it would sure be nice to know ahead of time what will and will not be permitted from one security person to the next. :)

“Can I bring food into Disneyland® Park or Disney's California Adventure® Park?

With the exception of food items for Guests with specific dietary restrictions, food or beverage items are not permitted into either of the Disneyland® Resort theme parks.”
